Track your journey with me. It's okay to take up to two days off a week (because carpel tunnel is bad) but the goal is to draw at least five days a week until you reach a total of 100 days and see how much you improved over time.

This was my first day for digital art:

And here was yesterday's art day #19 (day 5 of a different challenge)

That´s a good idea, I will use this to get better at drawing hands
and also to keep track of what I´m learning about the planes of the head

ahh, hands. I really need to work on those too lol

Day 2, some hands I struggled with when I drawing a page yesterday
and some more planes of the head. I´m trying to finish to learn the complete
cheek bone area which is the most complicated part of the head for me

Day 3
just a quick hand and what a quick visual reminder what I learned today about the planes
of the face

btw, the best tool ever for hand posing is "handy art reference tool"
I use it all the time to pose hands. They have ready to use and turnaround
hand poses, you can modify them in all ways. put shading on them etc.
I take screenshots and then use them as reference. It´s easier then looking
for hand poses or posing them with your hand.

This is how I use it. I could also trace over the reference but that would 1) feel like
cheating and 2) I want it to be unperfect looking and fitting to my style.

The picture is how I quickly sketched the hand, then what I made out of the reference

Day 4
I rushed this because I can´t wait to get back to working on my comic,
And I learned to draw Mickey Mouse, I play an online drawing game sometimes
and just found out that I can´t draw Mickey Mouse

Day 5, I´m almost done with the planes of the cheek bone area.
it´s the most complicated part of the face for me, that´s why
it´s taking me forever to remember it. I will do a longer portrait
once I remembered all the parts. I tested if I can still draw
MM and I wasn´t happy with the hand sketch today but it
doesn´t look too bad when I look at it now

I can´t draw my brothers main original character for some reason.
It´s a super simple character with just 4 lines as hair but he says I
always draw him too cute

Day 6
I did the last part of the cheekbone area plane which is the side thingy.
Next thing I will do is to watch the tutorial how to attach the planes and
where they are exactly. I have the feeling that this is one of the main keys
to draw better 3 dimensional looking faces and for shading.

No Mickey Mouse today but I can draw MM in my sleep now

Day 7
I´m not really getting forward with the theory right now so I´ll just take one small
step after other. I just try to remember one plane today and that is the back triangle

I also did this color thingy today. I really have to do a step to step coloring course
or some at one point of my life. I don´t have the patience for coloring and I don´t
know which brushes to use and everything

Day 8,

totally messed up that head but I got better at remembering the planes of the head,
they are just not placed good because I didn´t draw head correctly.
I´m quite happy with the hand turnaround

Practicing drawing highlights and contouring with the help of reference photos, And some advice i've received.

Day 9
it never feels like I´m improving but sometimes I realise years later that
I improved

Day 10, I did my least favourite hand pose today, the fist.
It´s so hard for me to draw a fist because it always just looks like one big
mass and there is no option to make it look good with dynamic fingers or
anything.

Then I did a quick head study but didn´t have the patience to do it accurately

I take on too many things to start this as a side mission, but I believe in you guys! And I believe in anyone else who participates! Commenting join the thread :>

yeah, that's too relatable lol

I'm still trying to make Mora's features more visible.

On whatever device you are using to view this, are her features visible?

I´m viewing on a huge xpen drawing tablet and the face and I can only see the white of the eyes.
The picture of the other character in the sketch a day thread works way better. You probably have
to work with highligths more

yeah, but the other character has a much fairer complexion canonically, so I just have to keep working on it. Thanks!

Yeah you are right.
But it´s good that you challenge yourself, I think you´ll learn a lot

Day 11, I remember the cheek bone planes now and how to find them.
I can do a longer portrait session next week on tuesday and see if I got
any better. Hands were easy today even though I kind of rushed them

thank you, I hope I will. I'm not very good yet, but i am giving it my all

Still practicing lighting to try to make my girl's features stand out more. I'm not sure how i feel about this pic rn lol. it's a learning curve. today i tried using an airbrush like someone suggested, which i think gives a very unique affect

I think it works, I would give it more highlights or play with outlines.
It´s a cartoony style, why not make it pop out of the page more?

oh thank you, and yeah, I think her arms and legs should have some highlights in future too xd

This is what happens on days with limited time,
I have a long drive to 2 cities and later back home so
I will not be drawing the whole day. Maybe tonight

This is a 3 minute hand

More shading and highlighting practice. I think i'm finally getting close-ish to her features finally being visible

This may quickly become 100 days of trying to draw Mora. Or at least 80 something lol. but i'm getting closer, slowly but steadily.

Here we have her as an elf

I came home one hour ago, felt guilty that I only drew one hand today so I made
another one for day 12. I feel better now and will draw some things for fun now

I hate guns btw and my comics will never have any violence, but I needed something
challenging

maybe it's a water gun. or for Olympic shooting? you can make your head canon whatever you like

The water gun is a creative and lovely idea
Another option is a chocolate gun

Day 13, the hands felt like gloves today. I did the planes of the nose and then I drew this head
construction from memory.

The nose construction thing helps a lot with shading and hightlights because then you what is in
light and shadow

Oh wow, this is so detailed, and helpful to see. thanks for the note

Day 14, bad hand day but I´m pushing through.
Some quick legs and more nose planes.

I will do some figure drawing now
