As a kid, I think Sabah was just more isolated than bullied! I’m sure that contributes to his overall psyche but honestly I think he’s probably way more depressed about yes, losing his gf Hieronyma, but sort of ALL his doomed relationships jdkddkks also he’s trapped in a cult so that’s even further isolating, where he thought he had out run that fate. There’s a bunch of clustered nonsense that make him:

He’s honestly always depressed though, he just a a very good actor. Because yes, theater kid. Although I think he was more of a dnd kid, he didn’t do theater until he went to college a decade late, as one does But the dnd thing actually makes sense for a theater kid…man…?… because that’s essentially just a really long thought out rp/practice in acting lol

Omg you know I also have someone usually help my find my glasses having roommates is really nice lol, I feel like Texas would end up having to get way too many replacements if she lived on her own. And then a year later she’d start finding the lost ones in some bizarre place xD She’s roommates with Chili, right?

But yeah the similarities are always eerie lol!! same wavelength I guess xD Even their namesakes are both Arabic/Hindi in origin. Although plot twist Sabah isn’t even Indian or remotely South Asian dkkdksks he’s just very into the culture lmao (I’m telling you he’s CURSED it’s like weeaboo levels but instead his target country was India ) he is still biracial like Kattar though, and shares the Mexican side to his heritage that your character has as well.

Yes, Texas and Chili have been roommates since her freshman year of college, when they met because of a lot of drama (and No, Chili was not in college he had graduated years earlier.)

And honestly, the D&D thing does make sense for a future actor though i admit I'd never thought of that before. Was he a dm or a player?

Also did Sabah pick that name for himself then? Because of his interest in South asia?

Kattar has no south Asian roots, tho one of his mother's best friends is Indian, and one of his kind of by default, since one of his closest friends is that friend of his mother's son. His name was chosen, literally, because he reminded his mother of a little black cat when he was born. But he was also kind of raised to see himself as only Mexican, so he had no other cultural influences growing up besides being American born. Like, he knows more about his indigenous Mexican roots than he knew about Korea as a kid

Oh no, there was drama?? I don’t think I know this lore about Texas and Chili: do I need to catch up more on the comic or is this unreleased information? :0

But yes lol dnd just feels like another form of acting honestly and he was one of the players, it’s funny you ask how he picked that name because his character was a Half-Elf Magic User (the classes/races were more limited than they have now because he was playing in the 80s … sort of … alternate 80s but it’s actually 2282 or something but anywayssss) and her name was Sabah.

I think he didn’t start using the name for himself until college though, where he sort of remade his image. But yes, he had a deep interest specifically in Hinduism and Odissi Dance but sort of just transformed into an obsession over the entire culture. I think calling him an Indian weeaboo is unfair though, I was mostly joking. He’s not that cursed about it, maybe like it’s a little bit cringe. It’s like a little hmm but he’s not actually looking for an Indian “waifu” equivalent or anything like that.

OH I think I’ve misinterpreted whenever you would mention Kattar was Mexican and Asian, because of his name I forgot, his dad was South Korean right? But I don’t think we see him in the story. Which only makes the coincidence correlations between Kattar and Sabah stronger Sabah also didn’t grow up with his dad around, he was raised by his single mom as well.

Also is Kattar the name of a black cat she had then?? Although I’ve only seen Kattar as a last name before! But people do use last names as given names frequently now :0! Or at least I feel like that, I’ve had a few friends with names that were traditionally last names or where does the name Kattar come from for your story?

So she named him Kattar specifically because it sounds like Kat to her. She had a cat that was older than him but the cat's name was Calla as in Calla Lily. Mrs. Moon's love for cats was maybe too much since she named her son because of them lol. And he's been Kat, Kitty Kat and every nickname like it his whole life because of that.

I chose the name because a neighbor of mine had a boyfriend whose given name was Kattar and it sounded cool to me. Kattar IS half Asian, yes, but his dad is Korean, not south Asian. But it isn't mentioned much because Kat knows nothing about Korea really. Like he speaks more hindi then Korean.

His mother's friend Daphne is Indian, so she has a lot of ties to south asia through that friendship. And Kattar's best friend as a kid (and one of his bffs even now, tho he now has 4) was Daphne's son Utkarsh, so Kat understands a bit of Hindi and can reply with some basic phrases as well. Mrs. Moon has a Korean friend as well, but all of her kids are much older than Kattar so he was never close to any of them.

Even his surname, despite his mom being married and divorced, and going by MRS. Moon is not Korean. Alicia thought Kattar had the name Moon because of his Korean father but it's actually a translation of his mother's surname. Her family were once priests of the Aztec moon god Metztli.

What different ethnicities is Sabah besides Mexican (which is often already several)?

As for Texas and Chili, the drama has not been released yet, but she is a student at the school he graduated from. He came back to do a talk that was mandatory for students to watch for part of their credits, but she knew someone who would punch other kids cards so they didn't have to show up lol. Well their school is so small there was only like 30 people at the talk and he could see all of them, obviously he would remember and notice blue hair, so when he saw her outside on campus he knew she had skipped out on her talk and was NOT happy about it lol.

Tbf. She skipped because she was upset that a bunch of her sorority friends threw a party and "forgot " to invite her. So Chili decided to crash that party, tho he technically just walked right in since they had no issue letting in a hunk like him, he instigated some chaos and then left. After that he and Texas were friends lol.
