2018 Writing Goals and Accomplishments

Hey, everyone! It has been a while since I've written a meaningful post here or a question, so I decided to post this.

I know some people don't like setting goals for themselves, but if you want, can you tell me your writing goals for next year or what you hope to accomplish?

Here are my goals:
- Finalize the draft of my story
- Self-publish my first book of short stories
- Get an agent
- Get a full-time writing job
- Work on my second series
- Keep writing and improving my craft

Alright, let's go!

Mine for 2018 are:

• Hopefully getting the co op where I'll be responsible for making readers aware of immigrants and their stories through newsletters. The interview was an hour long, so I have hope. :'>
• Finish my drafts. Since I came from wattpad, I've begun thinking that I need to make sure my books are in tip top shape before publishing them here. So I want to finish at least one first draft first before moving into the editing process.
• Rewrite at least 3 chapters of my first book. I honestly love that novel, but there's a lot I can improve on. The MC's friends' personalities, the plot's flow, the parents' character―I want to push myself to fixing those up.

Mine are simple.

For 2018:

• I want to improve my grammar and get better at wording.

• Start working on my second novel. Planned to be in the same universe as the first, but in a different period of time.

• Maybe get my first novel published or something similar.

Be more committed to working on my comic/manga
Communicate with fans more
Draw every day
Gain a decent following on my comic Rune Symbol

-Actually create and use a buffer
-stay on schedule
-work on composition and angles
-stylize my art more
-Study character and plot more!

Okay! Here's mine for 2018:

-Learn how to properly animate in Clip Studio Paint/Flash.
-Stylize my characters to look more appealing.
-Save money so I can commission artists to help me out.
-Learn how to create backgrounds for panels.
-Try not to lose more subs.
-Gain more subs.

It's almost 2018, can you believe it??

But anyway:
-Finish storyboard for my comic
-Complete ongoing comic and start a fan comic
-Improve my writing skills
-Upload more artworks on my DA
-Stop procrastinating.

Totally sure that last one is nearly impossible for me to do.

Writing goals are so much fun Even though mine are simple.

-Improve Grammar after my English professor slaughtered me this semester
-Write more of What is The Price of Freedom
-Work on a script for an interactive game!

Mine should be easy, yet remain oddly difficult:

• Stop giving myself more stories to work on (it takes away from current ones)
• Build a buffer instead of writing updates the day they're meant to be posted
• Increase the overall quality across all of my works

My goals are:

• Publish at least five books (Novels and comics).
• Focus on marketing my work better
• Write 2k words per day for my novels.
• Finish a chapter per week for my comics.
• Improve on everything overall.

I'm actually planning on focusing on my writing a bit more:

• Overall make my writing less rubbish.
• Actually script out my next comic (I tend to just work off rough outlines)
• Get back into publishing RPG books (although at this point I've probably lost whatever following I had)
• Work of the self-confidence to actually post some of my fiction.
• Submit to at least 5 publications (writing and/or comics)

I'm probably going to fail most of those, especially the first one.

I feel the editing process can be intimidating, but it's a nice feeling knowing your just improving what you've already written.

Those are good goals, and I wish you the best with publishing. Are you self-publishing or trying to do the traditional route?

I like the communicate with fans more =) That's a goal I should add to my list. Between here and WP, I need to get better at that.

I don't have the money for self-publishing. I'll try to go the traditional route, but first I want to get my novel popular.

Self-publishing can be costly =( I wish you the best for your submissions =)

I plan to query agents next year, too, and it honestly scares me, but I know rejection is part of the process.

Good luck! Original ideas are the best. Don't fall into the trap where they want you too write what's popular atm. Write what you like, not what others like.

Focus on writing,and stop being lazy when it comes to my work.
