Riley Wit sighed deep and rubbed his eyes. His third double shift this week he is Tired with a capital T. He liked working at the convenience store. The customers were nice (for the most Part) and he saw a lot of the same people everyday. It could be tough. Long hours, covering shifts, customer service but all in all he liked it.
âWorking Hard or hardly Working?â An elderly black gentleman said jauntily, setting a handful of snacks on the counter, breaking his reverie. âWorking Hard Mr. Bâ riley recanted back, ringing up his items.
One of his regulars Mr.B would ask the same question everyday and receive the same answer
everyday.
âWell Alright son you Have a good Day!â Mr B. said pocketing his change. â You Too Mr. Bâ smiling Riley checked the clock. 9:30, âitâs time to goâ . Riley Grabs His things and heads towards the Door.
âSee ya Thomasâ he says walking past his coworker and out the door
âYeah see ya.â Thomas says distractedly while sweeping the floor.
Outside on the busy street Riley checks his phone and sees text messages From His best friend Milo. Rolling his eyes he opens the messages.

Oh Milo Riley thought shaking his head. He did like to go out once in a while but he isnât much of party person. Tight spaces and Large groups are two of his least favorite things. He was sure this party would have both.
He shrugged and headed towards the train station. Riley and Milo had been best friends since the fourth Grade. Riley had always been picked on for being prettier than all the girls and smaller than all the boys. His thick Tawny mane, big green eyes , pouty lips and golden Brown skin made him stand out in the sea of pale that was his school. Add him being gay to that equation and he was an easy target. Or he was until Milo showed up. Loud and Proud and Cute to boot. Milo arrived at school and things changed. He wasn't in the closet like Riley. He was out and Proud. The same kids that bullied Riley ran from Milo. He had six sisters and six brothers (he was lucky Number 7) and he knew how to fight. By the end of the school year Milo Had beaten up 14 kids and made a friend for life. (he also got suspended 8 times but weâre not gonna get into that ).
