Accessibility of Comics in app

My daughter (26) has long enjoyed reading the comics published through the tapas app. She has been unable to learn to read due to various issues in school, but has found screen readers, and in particular Androids "select to read" very helpful. With that she has been able to read whatever she liked.
But
The tapas app no longer seems to allow the screen reader to try to convert the image to text for the text to speech engine. She is given the message "no text at that location" even though ste has selected an obvious speech balloon. Why is this?

Best guess might be that the Tapas app updated their DRM (digital rights management) for how they allow comics to be viewed through their app. This can include blocking technologies that could make copies or edits of the comics, which could be part of the process for converting images-to-text function (I am not certain).

So shortly, you can view (only) comic in the app -- but DRM may block access for doing other stuff to the comic. For example: like getting blank screenshots of the app.

Funny thing is that with my own tablet it works just fine. I guess I need to compare versions of all the components

Do you mean that in the future no one will be able to take a screenshot of a free comic book?

NO.

For the Tapas app's case, you can view the comic through the app but are not allowed to screenshots of comic through the app . There's probably something related to DRM and the term-and-conditions for what you can do and can not do in the app.

There are other ways to read comics, where you can take screenshot or picture -- like through a web-browser on a computer or on printed-paper if available at your local library, etc.
