Hello! Just wanted to give some advice as I know Patreon is a pretty big beast to try and understand.
I'll try to make this post as short and concise as possible and if you have any questions, you can simply ask.
First point:
- you made a rather entertaining "trailer" for the series but you have to realize that the people that actually visit your Patreon page do so because they already know what you do and want to know what more you can offer. As entertaining and well made the video is, I'm basically given a recap of the series that I already know all too well.
The best way to utilize the video space is to do an introduction of who you are, what you do, and why you made Patreon, and most importantly, what becoming a patron does for the supporter and you (the creator).
The large block of text below the video should just basically highlight key information (in bullet points if possible). This space should honestly be sort of read like a resume. Imagine the typical passerby of your Patreon page to be a recruiter simply scanning through the info page. Bold and underline key rewards and benefits that supporters will get when they become a patron.
Second point:
- Your rewards are rather... lacking. I've seen VERY few success stories where creators simply rely on goodwill from their supporters to have a decent following on Patreon. Your art is really solid and there are a lot of ways you can utilize this for a good following depending on what you're okay with.
Some examples that would make a reader that's already invested in your stories take the next step and become a patron is to offer exclusives that he/she would not be able to get anywhere else. Of course this would mean more work for you, but exclusive content is always very enticing.
Another reward can be as simple as early access to your comic series. (i.e. $2 tier can be ahead of normal updates by a week while $5 tier can be ahead by two weeks, etc.)
Another great reward that you would tack on with early access privileges would be to give readers access to your drafts and sketches. This requires no work on your part (assuming that you don't line and color right away), and can entice readers that really want to know the full process of your work.
ANOTHER reward is something that you might not be comfortable with but is another option that a lot of artists do that seems to work considering their follow count on Patreon. This reward would be to do 18+ drawings of your characters for your higher tier supporters to enjoy. Again, this is only something you should do if your integrity allows (I'm only suggesting). Since many readers are invested into the characters of your story, chances are high that they might enjoy a "hidden" side of their favorite character. Posting weekly/biweekly pinups of your characters in indecent settings/poses will most likely garner some attraction to some of your readers.
Again, these are all just suggestions that I advise be taken with a grain of salt. I've had my patreon for about 2 years now and since I just write, it's harder for me to do some of these rewards, but I've still managed to garner a decent amount of supporters.
Hope this was helpful
