But I think part of the divide in opinion on her is this:
She can be inturpreted in radically different ways:
She can be inturpreted as a childhood friend who randomly turns up to poop on eberything. In this sinareo, pink has no real moral duty towards spinel as they were just children who played together, and pink can't really be held responsible for spinel standing still and waiting for her in the garden. At best, it's the fault of whomever put one child in charge of the ultimate fate of another.
She can be inturpreted as a lost child whose only parent has abandoned her. In this scenario, the important thing is that she represents an abandoned child lashing out, and the method of her lashing out is a mere detail, thus its not really important whether she was trying to destroy the earth or just rip up some carpets, it's the same sort of emotional response.
In this senareo, pink is at fault because she (the parent) abandoned a child.
Either way, it sucks that no one in the show seems to acknowledge the earth destroying consequences of spinel's actions.
Personally I consider this an insult to the worth of humanity.
She is clearly a danger to others and needs to be put into a secure psychiatric facility.
(this would happen under British law which acknowledges personality disorders, however there are countries that would not deam her insane, because she understood that the consequences of her actions would be the extinction if life on earth.)
