An Artist finding a Short-Story Writer. :)

I like to find a short-story Writer to make comics with so, judge my style if it floats your boat. I don't know how to color nor how to heavily detail stuff so black and white style is a must (Japanese style). I'd prefer short-stories as what I do is a hobby that comes and goes. I'm pretty bad at what I do, so I like to be with a chill individual to collaborate with.

Genre preferred: Slice of life or Action

How I create my comic/manga: The Comic is actually created in 3D (Blender), and the renders are edited in Photoshop to generate the black and white visuals and I like to use SAI to manually add in small detail touch-ups if it's within my capabilities to achieve. I don't have much freedom with the shading as again they're computer generated by the Software which I am able to manually touch-up to some extent. I can still manipulate the shading with the 3D lighting to the best it can achieve before it gets the B&W filtered applied but it is sometimes not accurate and detailed, so the samples you see especially the pitch-black ones are automated by the Photoshop filter

• Workflow is like this: Character is modeled from scratch > rigged for posing > objects are modeled for the scene > i create the planned panel > render it > edited in Photoshop to achieve comic/manga look > SAI to further detail the scene > finished. > a lot of revisions bwahha

• My inspiration in making comics/manga using 3D is from a manga called: Gantz by Hiroya Oku

Other information:

• I'm a big fan of slice & action, but it comes down to the story if it is possible for me to create visually is A-ok

• If age matters for collaborating, I'm 20.

• I can't draw, so 3D and the help of photo editing with a basic of Line drawing is what I can only do.

2: you've never been so good as you are right now
3: get that 'crappy' out of your title, respect yourself and your craft
4: there are plenty of writers here who would DIE for someone with your style and quality

Stop downplaying yourself, you're good and you're just going to get better. If you think your art is crappy, look at older stuff and see the improvement.

I was never really good at Art, so I wanted to make it clear that
I wanted a beginner writer or a chill person that doesn't care about
how good the artist is but just wants a visual adaption with a lot of
flaws in the art. x)

None of us here 'were ever very good at art', and most of us still don't think so But you're doing something not many people are able to do, and that's CREATE something. You better be proud of that!

As someone who also uses Blender, I have to say the look you end up achieving is honestly so cool! Looking at the samples you provided, you can hardly tell 3D was used at all in the process, which is a big testament to the work you put in to match the hand-drawn style. Really great work!

Not that I'm looking for an artist, but I feel like you should mention exactly how much you're willing to work on? Different people have different ideas of how long a short story could be, so would it be a few traditional comic pages or a lengthy manga one-shot..? Establishing clear limits would help narrow it down a bit since I'm assuming writers are gonna pile up asking for a partner lol

Side note: I have an eye for noticing 3D models and I couldn't even tell it was 3D until you mentioned it lol seriously, it's amazing that you can pull off the techniques you used in such a way

My story is definitely not short (quite the opposite), but I would be interested in seeing if your methods would work for the project I am working on.

The project is called Cyberscape Neo, a science-fantasy isekai vertical comic. As a writer, I too was inspired by Gantz. The series has a lot of psychological and existential questions, wrapped up inside of a VR MMORPG shell that has contrasting perspectives between players of the game and the people who now reside within it permanently - Synthetic Users.

this is my first time posting here, actually i just found tapas XD
i've been looking and i found your post, i like your style, and i do have a story in mind and i have a general idea about the plot and the ending too, i've wrote some events in the story and came up with characters ( i have a simple concept of the hero) and i think you will like the story because it has a lot of slicing action ( sword play), its a fantasy story happening during the sengoku era... at first i wrote it as a novel, but it has a lot of fighting scenes... if i can contact you so i can give you the details about the story maybe via discord or anywhere

Are you still looking for someone to collaborate with? I have sort of a relationship-driven superhero story set in the 90s. I have it in script form (was originally supposed to be a graphic novel), but I've started turning it into prose. However, I feel it really needs to be a comic. Here's my site, for what I tried to do with prose. But I have the whole story in script form, too.
