Librals sucking the life out of equality - arts - culture, the parliament is all but hung

Well, I can't argue on that as the Libs are poison for arts and lack even the most basic respect for human beings in general.

Well, whatever your politics, I don't think you can blame the shortcomings of the LNP on 50% of the population. The vast majority of people don't base their votes on the basis of marriage equality or arts funding.

I'm Malaysian but I've been living in Melbourne since 2010, so almost 6 years! I'm currently working on my manga-styled comic.

There's not much of a comic culture I think. However, I did notice an increase in comic creators during Supanova this year, which got me really excited. It was so cool to see them showcase and talk about their work. I'm thinking of exhibiting my art/comics in a convention one of these days, so I really hope the comic scene grows!

I heard of a place called Squishface Studio in Melbourne. It appears to be a small studio where comic artists can gather to discuss and draw. It also hosts occasional lessons. Don't know how it's like, but it definitely seems like a great place to be.

That sounds cool. I'll def check them out. When I was a kid I was into comics big time, and they were pretty popular in mainstream culture, but they kind of fell away for a while until the movies started coming out. But yeah, this was all internationally created stuff. I'd definitely be interested in seeing what other locals are producing.

@ashriott I went to Squishface Studio, last Wednesday - for their monthly get together and draw. Great small community of people, I can't believe I haven't come across them before, since I've lived in Melbourne all my life. Thank you very much for mentioning it - I think I'll keep going back there.

Oh sweet, glad you enjoyed it! I only just recently heard of it myself, even though they've been around since 2011 I think.
I'm keen to check it out someday and meet fellow artists, but the start time coincides with work *sigh *
