Any of you guys have 'trailers' or something like that for your webcomic?

I'd love to see examples of what other people have done. I'm trying to figure out how the heck to go about making one and I'm thinking of splicing together some scenes in a video (like tiktok size), but I'm... absolutely stupid and struggling. Haha.

Yes! Appropriately enough just this week, I had to make a trailer for my Kickstarter Campaign! Here it is:

I ultimately went with a very silly approach. I wanted to be clear that the comic does have progressive and feminist themes, but in a way that didn't come across too "worthy" sounding and put people off, so I wrote out a trailer where I kind of play the butt of the joke (since my voice sounds so fussy and proper it really works for that, especially with the angle of me being known online for voicing a fussy, proper character). Part of the inspiration was the trailer for Hearthstone Wizard Duels, so I asked my VO group, Voxus, if anyone did a really good "Obnoxious Monster Truck Announcer Voice" and Trevor Wilson is like "Yes. I can do that." and oh man, he delivered!

I've also made a video on instragram in the past, which wasn't hugely effective, maybe because it moves a bit fast, or maybe because it focuses on the action aspects rather than the characters and comedy?

That is genuinely glorious.

I'd be afraid to put my voice in anything as it is horrifyingly low and raspy and scares people. Ahem.

I dig the representation without tolkenism. This has helped a lot. Hrm. I'm trying to figure out Davinci Resolve for video editing, are you using something like that?

The editing in this case was done with Adobe After Effects. Obviously I wouldn't expect everyone to have that, I'm just lucky enough that my partner works as a designer for the UK's biggest supermarket

Honestly, you don't need to go too complicated. Have a look at the "webcomics" tag on Tiktok and actually a lot of the content is very rough, and just somebody holding up their phone to their screen and some text overlays, and it works remarkably well.

That's awesome, I've heard after effects is a beast of a program to work with. In a good way, I mean.

I've basically figured out how to make a slideshow, lol. But it looks more like something from 2010 powerpoint. I only recently got tiktok (I am a social recluse) for this sort of thing actually, so that's a good idea I hadn't thought of.

I've had a go at a Tiktok before. I basically just filmed finding Errant in the Tapas Pride collections, then threw in a bit of the insta trailer at the end, shoved some text and a suggested tune (Jojo music, nice) over the top... amazingly actually got some subs off this:

Oh nice! It seems you're pretty good at piecing together videos, which imo is a pretty underrated skill. I haven't even figured out how to add text yet, lol.

I think I'm going to need to do a lot of youtube tutorial searches.

Yeah, look up some tutorials. Video editing is a finnicky process and can feel a bit daunting, so it's best to start simple and just try things out!

Yeah albiet more episode trailers which I use one piece of art and make it move around in the video editing software cap cut. Then post as an instagram reel

That program although not the most bulky or proffessional video editing soft ware. It's pretty good for beginners who want to turn thier images to videos

Lul, We're trying to atleast. I'll PM you the script and the Audio version with the VA since we plan to release the full thing on Inksgiving. (And animations hasn't been made yet, and I trust you enough.) If you ever need a VA or whatever, I work with a few and can give some recommendations.

I did one mostly speedpaint music videos, and cosply videos. I might do more animted shorts again.
