Any of you work on multiple comics at once?

Okay so, I'm so amazed by people who can work on and update multiple comics at once!

I have no idea how people manage to do it, but for those who do- why did you choose to work on two at once and how do you manage your updates/schedule?

I'm very much a work on one comic at a time kind of person but I'm really curious to know what goes into doing something like this

I probably don't count since I'm not updating multiple comics at once, but I'll just pretend I only read the title and run my mouth anyways XD

I absolutely cannot focus on one thing at a time! If Project A is my top priority, my brain would be like 'hey look, Project B! Pay attention to this instead!' So while I want to focus on my primary comic, get updates out faster and complete it sooner, I end up spending a good chunk of time worldbuilding for my secondary comic instead

I've learnt that my overall productivity is higher if I just embraced this. Trying to fight it and making myself focus on my primary project would make me feel like I'm making more progress since the top velocity of my 'progress bars' is higher, but ultimately the stuff behind the scenes is still progress. The average velocity of my 'progress bars' would be lower, and I'll really feel it if I finish my current project and have to start the next one from scratch :'D

I used to upload two at once, my main serie, 6,75, which is a very long fantasy comic, and Trust Me, I'm a Chemist, which was a silly comic about my memories from studying chemistry- at least it started like that, because later there were also episodes not related to chemistry. Updates schedule changed with time, but I think at my peak I was uploading 3 pages of 6,75 and 2 episodes of TMIC per week. I'm not sure though, might've been 2 / 2.
I think it was possible only because those comics are so different. I don't think I would be able to do two bigger series at once and put the same amount of effort into them 6,75 is much more detailed, while TMIC is kinda just doodles (but was WAY more popular anyway haha) and this way I could rest from doing one serie by drawing episodes for another one and the key was to draw comics daily, even just a little bit, and doing a bit of extra work when I have more time to have some bigger buffer
I could manage it quite well when everything was okay irl, however it was already to much when things in life got busy and I could no longer keep up with it. I still tried and got burnt out very badly cx but that was mostly due to the outside stress, not comics themselves. So my advice is to put one on hiatus as soon as you know you won't have that much time, and don't rush back to it too soon

My tastes change a lot, so starting new comics has always been a thing for me. Get a burst of inspo in something I like and make something. But nowadays I've just kept it at 3.

One I'm working on fulltime, so I could publish it.

Then another is weekly that requires less effort.

Then the third one takes a while for me to update, so irregual now. Sadly can't put as much time into it as before. It used to be my main priority.

But I just have a lot of time cause it's Summer.

I would absolutely love to, but I'm afraid I would quickly get tangled up by all the work. I'm currently working on just one project and I'm already very busy and finding it hard to keep up. One thing I gotta say, though, is I actually started writing a new series. I don't know if I'll ever post it or even make a comic out of it, seeing how hard and time-consuming it is, but hey, I like hopping onto new projects from time to time. Taking a small break from my main series is a good thing, because this way I don't get fed up with it.

I work on three comic at once. Two are updated regularly. One was an idea I had for a few years before starting it and other one was and idea that was more spontanious, but I started making up plot around it, so I decided to go at it while I still like the idea. xD

Third comic is updated whenever I feel like it, since it's supposed to be mostly improvised thing, so I don't even think about it's plot too much. xD

I have a lot of future comic ideas, but starting them all at once would be just insane. xD

why did you choose to work on two at once?

Because it's like a commission but long term and steady.

how do you manage your updates/schedule?

It's a matter of trying to arrange and keep everything organized, I work for three series, which also have a similar lenght of panels to be done. So I keep them on the same phase if I can, first days I do the sketch of all of them, then lineart and then coloring.

It's easier to work when you're not the one having to think about the script, dialogues and even storyboarding. Since that's the only thing I request the authors of the series I work for to provide me, then the only thing left for me to do is to draw it on my style and arrange it on the vertical format.

I do, sometimes. I worked on an extention of my first story while working on a current story. I also had to work on comics for other projects. Hopefully, I'll work to do a better job at mass producing.
