The topic itself and creator has made the point that they, myself and so many others have struggled on Tapastic with. We want results and we fail to get it. We're told to advertise, so we do, and we get nothing in return. We're told to post in the forums, we do, and we get nothing in return. We're told to check out other series, we do, we get nothing in return. We're told to improve our work, we do, and again, where is the payoff? Some say you got to be on Tapastic for a long time, again, we do that, and still, stagnation.
You heard it from successful creators here too, even they struggle with stagnation. Imagine what its like for us. If the good ones are having trouble, we're neck deep in quicksand, going down...down...down.
I can't blame Tapstic for how it works, it does nothing wrong or bad. I can't say its making a mistake or something, which might be the worst part. Because it means that there's nothing wrong with the system yet there's nothing the people, that being us struggling creators can do. We try to follow the things stated like advertising and posting on the forums but it doesn't do any good.
As the old saying goes, some of us are up the creek without a paddle. The only good news is that for some of us, there's another canoe with better paddles that we can move to. It seems like there is no way for us to gain success here on Tapastic.
Because Webtoons gives what creators want, results and attention. At Tapastic, there's this group in the popular section, swatting at the Pinata getting bounds of candy. Meanwhile, we're here shaking a stick at a runty paper pig hoping a Tootsie Roll will fall out.
At Webtoons, you still have the popular section getting hoards of candy but at least the Pinata we have throws down 50-100 pieces of candy. It may not be much compared to the popular section but we appreciate it because its more than we've ever had on the other side.
There's little wonder why nobody criticizes Webtoons despite some of its glaring flaws as a hosting site, because we're willing to forgive these issues or accept some of these sacrifices because it means getting the results that we want above all else.
As already noted, I can't say that Tapastic is doing anything wrong but I and everyone else here have every right to feel letdown when all the hard work we do seems to go to waste. I feel the same way as the creator, where despite trying to do my best, trying to improve, trying everything, I get nothing in return. I feel invisible and alienated.
Frankly, it sucks and the only thing I can say is, I'm glad there are other options for us creators.
But it hasn't yet and right now, Webtoons has made the effort to throw money in and its paid off. Their professional works and popular sections gets them the attention they want as a site while simultaneously allowing a measure of readership for lesser creators. It feels like a win/win situation.
Maybe Tapastic doesn't have the financial support to do it here but if they have a way and it is feasible for them to do this, maybe they should. That way the rest of us lesser creators won't feel alienated and invisible.
