Anyone got some ideas for Written Sound?

Having a hard time coming up with a good SFX for when someone is preparing to launch off the ground. Imagine a character in a action comic where they prepare to jump from the ground a long distance into the air. I'm thinking the sound should involve their muscles tightening or something along those lines or the ground cracking as a result. Any thoughts?

Imagine how a character jumping off from the ground would sound like in your head, write down what ever happened.

@arbanims I actually tried to do that before but failed miserably. Since English is not my first language, I have a hard time imagining what the written sound for a certain action would be like. For example my mother language is "Vietnamese" and most "sound" in my head would be in Vietnamese. A dog would go "woof" in English, but in my mother language, they go "gâu" TT v TT

I'll be the first to admit that I suck at coming up with written sound on my own. I usually have to refer to the onomatopoeia library (linked above by aron ) for inspiration, and sometimes, I wing it on a busy day xD!

SFX can be divided up into 2 kinds of written form: an adjective/verb or an onomatopoeia. Adjectives and verbs are established words in whichever language you are using. Onomatopoeia can be made up words or clusters of letters that represent sound. Examples of adjectives could be: "clentch", "grit", "crackle". Examples of onomatopoeias could be: "fshwoo", "Butchwa", "grrraaa". I"m not sure if those exampes are very helpful but hopefully the concept assists you. Good luck!
