So I have been on Tapas forums for quite some time but I have noticed that most of the people here are fellow creators. How do I really find the audience who are just coming to read cuz ik that most of the comic creators are busy to binge read webtoons and stuff.

You are going to have to advertise outside of Tapas to get more readers in.

Also for your question, I am both.

you can try and get them from outside the platform by crossposting on instagram and co

also something like cameos and guest comics will help sharing readers with another creator!

You can promote your stuff on social media, hope that people will stumble upon your work on their own whenever you appear in the fresh section...and I guess you could try collabing with someone and thus copromoting each other. I wouldn't focus too much on this forum when it comes to gaining readership as it is filled with mostly creators.

Interact with other people under other creators’ stories or comment in general. If people see you a lot they’ll assume you’re a creator as well and typically check your stuff out. If you have a few creator friends to collab with, that increases visibility. And you may get lucky and have someone promo you under their story.

Cross promoting is good and social media is a toss up, but I’ve found that genuinely engaging with other people helps tremendously

Your best bet for getting a larger proportion of non-creators reading your work is to promo off-site. Reddit, Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter are all pretty good, and I'm noticing the more effort I put into those, the more my readership trickles up.

The best part about Insta and TikTok, is that TikToks and Reels are the same thing, so if you make a reel for TikTok you can just post it to Instagram and call it a day. Low effort, high return. I do that thing where you put your sketch layer over your finished work and erase it. Do that for each panel of a new webcomic episode, and you'll easily have enough content to last for a week or two, depending on how often you post them. :grinning: Because I'm on an iPad, I can make one of those in less than 5 minutes.

I have hard a lot about TikTok but sadly the app is banned in my country : (

Well, both actually XD I read a lot of comics lol. Most creators do read other comics as well XD Try checking out some of the promotion forms and such.

Creator.

Mostly I have to make time to just sit and read comics/manga/find new music for two reasons. One, it's genuinely because I don't have the time and that's not including production time. If I knew the ultimate answer in finding readers that wasn't "just self-promote, advertise, interact but be sensible and know when and where." I'd probably let no one know just so I could have the edge. Your guess is as good as mine.

Second, as a creator, I want to make sure I study and learn from everything I put my time into. Especially artistic works. I want to give fellow creators respect by really looking at panels, consider their production, fully engross myself in their work, as well as see little tricks they use that I could as well. Not just newer series, but classics as well. For me, I read, watch and listen more as a study then as basic entertainment. Which can sound super pretentious, but I wanna get better and besides actually doing it, studying the arts is the next best thing.

I am in same boat I have same thought that creator were busy with their project so it would be great if reader read my manga/comic and also my series is thriller so most of reader in tapas is not cup of my tea(or cup of my taste)

I'm another one whose both! I write but I also love supporting other creators. I've read and donated to so many good series on this site already. :grinning:
