I just opened my account here over the weekend, so this is all very helpful! Thank you for sharing your experiences.
I've seen this same piece of advice in several different places over the years. And basically that's just to do what you do (draw, write, paint, play music, code, build stuff, run an experiment, play a sport, etc.) for the love of the game. Wanting to be liked by others and wanting your work to be popular has a high chance of disappointing you. Nothing we ever do will be perfect, but if the thing that you do brings you joy and makes you feel alive, then making that art or whatever has accomplished its primary (and sometimes only) purpose. You're already brilliant and amazing and talented. Anyone who tries to convince you otherwise is sadly missing out.
