Dang, Rip really grew up well, didn't he?
This was not a connection I made until I was doing the study today xD
Congrats on starting your own studies and stuff. It will pay off if you stick with it.
Thanks! Best of luck to your studies as well, too.
Today's exercises are some random doodles and another Jack Kirby study.
@Bishmuth you are definitely getting the hang of those landscapes.
@aqua03 those are really good foundation studies!
@nathanKmcwilliams I like the chair sitting and the 2 person interaction
@Hodge this looks like really good foundation for fight sequences
Thanks! Yeah, I'm really happy how they've been coming along, actually.
Today's studies are all taken from Pro Wrestling photos. Pro wrestling is a treasure trove for action oriented artists such as my self. The dramatic moves and motions are so perfect for drawing high impact attack scenes
I mean... This shot in particular is so...epic it's ridiculous. I don't even like pro wrestling all that much, but...the benefits of studying their movements will be really helpful.
Water colour studies I'm doing for a portfolio submission. My potato quality phone doesn't pick up all the pigments.
Collection of studies from last few days~
@nathanKmcwilliams ohh pro wrestling, that's a good idea! i didn't think to look there for references, but now that I think about it, since its more coordinated than mma for example, you can get those really dramatic shots.
@spudfuzz those water colour studies are lovely~
Now that I have time I decided to join XD. Here are some sketches for today.
A couple portfolio studies from today
An assortment of stuff today. My lunch break was dropped from an hour to 30 minutes so I've had less time to do exercises. But its making me draw better, faster so hey that is a good thing.
studies~ doing a last minute submission for the short story contest, so studies gonna be inconsistent for a bit
@Chita yayy~ these look good! Liking the details in the shading, and you really captured the energy of the poses~
@spudfuzz your linework is always so clean~ especially with the environments!
@nathanKmcwilliams only 30 minutes! ahh so little time~ also liking the dinosaurs, but that pile of bricks is
Haven't worked on anything the last 2 weeks. Trying to get back into things so don't mind my choppy work.
Got some pod house studies from one of those Etherington brothers tutorials, and some Burne Hogarth studies.
Never heard of them before. Where can I find them?
Pinterest is where I find them. I guess they usually sell all of their books through Kickstarters(I don't own any unfortunately). But you can find the promo tutorials all over the place. My drawing reference board has a lot of them.I like them because they use a cartoony style with a lot of expression. Works well with my personal style of energetic lines.
They look like this
Ah, neat. I've seen those guys before. Never knew what the actual name for them was until now, though. Thanks for sharing with me!
back again. Lot's goin on but trying to keep myself back in it.
Did some quick studies/drawings of architecture this morning as a warm up.
