One aspect to making a comic is that once you settle on a look and a style, you end up very committed to it. Having to draw it over and over again, having to create and use the same short-cuts or simplifications for the sake of expediency and/or tone. It gets old sooner or later, so I find breaking away from that same style to be really reinvigorating (and necessary) artistically. I love looking back at the stuff I did that's very different from what I settled on for my comic and being like whoa, look at all that ~range~.
