Hello out there,
I'm looking to do a bit of webcomic creation without the writing. I write a LOT… I'm currently working on the next season of my two prose novels on Tapas and am editing the script and working on the thumbnails for a webtoon I've been tinkering about with.
The thing is… I'm tired of writing right now and the thumbnailing (and reworking of thumbnails) process just drains me. I'm great at coming up with ideas, but when it comes time to thumbnail a page, I just draw a complete and utter blank, hence the reason I've been working so long on my webcomic idea. The thumbnails kick my butt and I end up procrastinating and traipsing away to do something else because, yeah, scary thumbnails. It might even be a sickness…
What I'm hoping for…
I'd like to do a short but fully fleshed webcomic, something with a decided end in sight. Think, a single volume story, if we're talking manga.
I'd prefer to work on a BL story and I'm open to many different sorts of plotlines. Dark psychological stories, school stories, urban fantasy, omegaverse, etc. I love brainstorming, so I'll help with coming up with ideas, if needed. I just want a writer to help with the thumbnail process. I can follow a script and create the artwork from that, but if you'd like to actually roughly create thumbnails to help jumpstart me, that would be most excellent.
A note to interested parties…
I work predominately in 3D. I'm a student in a 3D art program at university and my intention is to create the comic via a 3D to 2D process I've been working on. So, you'd have to be open to the non-traditional art style.
3D to 2D Comic Creation
Here's an example of my rough character designs for my upcoming webcomic. Basically, I want to test the process with a shorter tale before committing to it.
I'm about to have a couple of months of free time and I'd like to take that time to focus largely on refining my art process in a manner where I don't have to worry about writing and thumbnailing. I want to take off the writers cap and wear the artist's cap for a bit. This is intended as practice for my upcoming comic. I'd prefer to work in the scrolling webtoon format, if possible.
Finally, I think the business aspects of things should be considered…
I'm open to sharing the story and any profits that may or may not arise from it. I'm also open to an "art trade," meaning that I own this story in exchange for helping you work on a second story that you will own. I can create a series of artwork images for your prose tale, for example. Think, collaborative commission work. We can negotiate our terms once we decide we're a good fit.
If interested, PM me or post to this thread. It would be great if you could link to or post some of your writing examples. If you have a story in mind and have a short synopsis at the ready, all the better. I'm just looking to take a break from writing for a while...
