artists taking breaks is perfectly fine!! i think the tapas crowd is very sympathetic to hiatuses, maybe because a lot of people are creators, or want to be. a lot of little hiatuses (three weeks or less) is probably a lot better than fewer, bigger ones as well - for your readership and for yourself. its easier to decide when to do hiatuses and justify them with a longform comic, but its a fine and good thing to do with any comic
if you take a longer hiatus, plan it in advance so you have lots of opportunities to let people know, and organise some kinda reader participation, a QnA is extra work when you get back, but it can be fun, fanart submissions & guest art are reeaaaally fun (i think your comic would do great with submissions, you might want to like start asking for submissions a month before a hiatus, and then your hiatus can last as long as you have submissions. very nice)
also - do you have a buffer? or do you draw each comic the day you create it? i think a daily comic like yours could do with a batch of 'reserves' that could last you... a month? incase life gets you down and gets in the way of your creating
