Artists- what are your favorite kinda scenes to draw?

I enjoy drawing backgrounds more than people (which you probably wouldn't guess based on my comic, but might be more apparent in my novel illustrations). I especially love night scenes, though I'm still learning how to color them.

I have found that I like to draw when characters speak with their movement, instead of words. Like, watch their hands, their expressions (if that's what can be called what the faces I draw actually does), where their eyes are moving, etc. I have been trying more and more to speak with the body of the characters to support or contrast the dialogue. Its fun to try at least =P

Action! Which is a shame because my current series is going to be a (mainly) horror drama.

Backgrounds are high up there as well along with crazy, exaggerated facial expressions and body language.

Emotional scenes and splash pages. Not always for being easier, but you can really push environmental storytelling,interesting colors and expression with those, rather than worrying about other elements.

A bit of an odd choice, but I love crowd-shots! I can skip the pencil pass on background characters, just freehand the inks and cheat out a lot of background elements while still keeping the panel visually interesting.

Really animated conversations! Characters emoting with not just their faces, but their whole bodies. These are usually a little closer up, too, so I don't have to draw quite so many backgrounds.

I do like doing elaborate backgrounds for certain panels-- the visual payoff of a gorgeous setting is worth the extra work. Splash pages, large panels showing a new setting, those are great. The background grind is having to put them in the back of normal panels, though.

It may be odd but it's impressive!! I don't like drawing crowds much so I'm truly amazed. And your crowds are so pleasant to look at, maybe because you love drawing them haha!

Same for me! And it's fairly recent, but I really like drawing people talking with a low-angle shot (I know it's very specific). And I used to hate drawing backgrounds, but now I really enjoy drawing natural landscapes (but no interior please T∆T)

Anything with silhouettes. I love using silhouettes to add tension.

Scenes with little to no color.

...kidding (I'm very bad with color though since I think in greyscale). I really like drawing dynamic/high energy poses. Specifically with my current story, I love drawing faces when the character is in a state of desperation/insanity/craziness (a la Yugioh and the intense expressions there). For me, that's when I get to have fun with characterization and being unsettling. As I slowly improve, I want these scenes to hit and be memorable, sort of the mark of the series.

My favorite are really uncomfortable interactions that make me cringe while I'm sketching them . How many ways I can I draw my characters looking mildly miserable? Honestly I'm wondering if I'm going to miss romance genre.

Romantic ones! I love kisses, and shy smiles, and blushes, and all that soft stuff.

Also, anything sad.

Inking textured closed-ups: makes you don't want to rush and enjoy filling up textures. It's therapeutic.

Also strong emotional scenes cos' it's exciting, but then again i haven't reached there yet..

I love drawing scenes where I can really exaggerate their facial expressions! So if a character is showing an extreme emotion (screaming, sobbing, furious), I can really exaggerate that, and it's so fun for me!

I torture myself with environments (they take so long) because I think they're pretty.

Ones with wacky expressions! I get so bent out of shape at times when I feel like my art isn’t technically sound, but I never feel more satisfied than when I feel like I portrayed the characters expressing the exact way I wanted. Like this one from my most recent episode.
