I feel like that’s a lil hard to answer even though I haven’t read much outside of graphic novels in a few years.

I can see why, but you as the caster would know where it is since you casted it; so you have this kind of sense. I did a decent read on it and came to that conclusion. Plus, you make it invisible when you cast it; so the somatic component should be fulfilled anyways.

The invisibility part helps the Arcane Trickster be a Trickster; of course DMs can rule stuff, but it's best not to make some creative stuff like this useless.

Yeah, that's what I'm playing now, Arcane Trickster and my current DM has it locked down. Haven't succeeded on using it once, often don't even get to roll a slight of hand check.

But if you are planning of doing sneaky stuff with sleight of hands, you can do what real stage magicians do and set a distraction so the target are focussed on something that is not you.

Another trick you can do is to cast it BEFORE you need to use it. For example, in a crowded market, you cast it before entering, then, when you are mixed with the crowd direct the hand to use sleight of hand.

my point is that if you cast it the round before interacting, (ex: when you are in the next room), you can conceal the mere fact that you cast it......(1 minute are 10 rounds, right?)

I think metamagic is only accesible to sorcerers in 5e, so that's why i didnt mention silent and still spell before....

That's in combat. The DM can easily burn off that minute with before combat interactions as you enter the room. That's happened couple of times... Cast before entered tavern, was gone before we even got set at a table with conversations etc.

If a DM doesn't like something, you can't do much.
