Another trick you can do is to cast it BEFORE you need to use it.

Not to disparage the DM but he's not about the Rule of Cool with this spell...he sticks to that strict 1 minute duration.

my point is that if you cast it the round before interacting, (ex: when you are in the next room), you can conceal the mere fact that you cast it......(1 minute are 10 rounds, right?)

I think metamagic is only accesible to sorcerers in 5e, so that's why i didnt mention silent and still spell before....

That's in combat. The DM can easily burn off that minute with before combat interactions as you enter the room. That's happened couple of times... Cast before entered tavern, was gone before we even got set at a table with conversations etc.

If a DM doesn't like something, you can't do much.
