Asking for advice on how to run social media for a story!

I've been thinking about making an instagram or tt account for my story for a while now, but I never understood how to do that. Does anyone here have any experience running an account for their novel/comic? Is it worth the effort, does it collide with your reader base on Tapas? Etc.

It can definitely help. All my social media comic mirrors are behind the Tapas release, so I try to point people that way (or to my Patreon). I'm no expert on social media at all, but you must advertise outside of Tapas if you want to have a strong readership.

May I ask what social media you use exactly?

I use Deviantart, Instagram, Bluesky, and Reddit. Reddit has been the most effective for me, Instagram has been the least effective.

Been using Instagram for years...like maybe a few views a month at most. Which is odd cause my manga is just shy of 200k views. And now since they use artwork, photos, etc for AI training. Nah not interestsed any more.
Bluesky has been my heavy hitter of where to post. I Post cropped teasers, to funnel people were I have my main manga hosted on. It lets for 14+ and up content. Instragm is up to PG13 only.

Yeah, IG's terrible. Bluesky has been less good for me lately, it seems that it would be more successful for innuendo and explicit comics than the sort of SFW stuff I do. A lot of the internet works better for that kind of thing than SFW work, though. If I ever find a great SFW social media art sharing site, I'll definitely let others know.
