I also use 3d modeling in my comic! it makes it so much easier then drawing the backgrounds and there being a small missing detail because like you said it stays the same! and when they return to that particular place I already have the model saved for further use ! but I do love adding textures to add to it.

I agree! For popular areas in my comic, even my fantasy comic, I take the time to build a model and save it. I don't use the model directly in the comic, I'm one of those draw-over-the-top-of-the-model types, but I model nonetheless.

If its a scene I'm only going to use in maybe only 1 panel, I eye-ball it and don't bother with a model. Or blur it out... and don't bother with the details... sigh...

I made a 3d model of Captain Ufo's ship, including the interiors we've seen so far in the comic. I mostly use it as a reference, though. I don't like how the look of 2d exports of 3d models clashes woth hand drawn elements. Even when I use the model in the comic, I end up redrawing/retracing large parts of it.
I do like drawing backgrounds (at least up to the moment I remember that i have to color them afterwards :P). These two panels hare hand made, for example (well, actually a large part is made with the vector pen tool in Photoshop, what I mean is that it's not a tracing of an existing picture or model):

I read a lot of Berserk so... I want to be cool like Kentaro Miura but I don't think I'll ever reach that level of attention to detail. I have a real problem with drawing backgrounds, but I feel like my comic is helping me deal with that, yknow? Fill the void with real interesting compositions!

Dude I totally agree with the 2d exports of 3d models clashing with hand drawn stuff. The fact that you took the extra effort to redraw/retrace does not go unnoticed, it really does help the characters and background fit into the same style.
