and yes, my anime name is baka-kun
anywhosers! I normally do this for people when they ask on their wall but seeing I know how to forums now
I'll be listing recommendations for comics and shiz, all neish, trending and so on I find are worthy for a read!
my tastes are dark fantasy with Lovecraftian elements, not to say I'll spice things up with other Genres!
anywhosers! feel free to share your own list or whatever, I won't mind.
Tapas starter's guide:
the following are comics YOU should be reading or SHOULD be on your reading list. or at most, you should have at least one.
most of the mentions on this section might be well known, and I'm just rehashing like watch mojo, this list is specifically aimed for those new readers that are just trying to get into tapas
nonetheless, I'll try to not double dip into Genres.
Sarah Scribbles
the classic Sarah Scribbles twice a week comedy comic with some good gags and shiz, if you don't know Sarah, give her comic a read
seeing its a twice a week comic, you do not need to actually read or be caught up with the comic by binge reading the previous episodes.
every page is a joke, set up and punchline set up all in one go.
if you want a comedy comic with a bit more story, then check out Erma from Outcast Comics
this one does however probably need some binge reading, though this is due to the comic occasionally delve into stories with actual themes and plot..the gist is on the link if you wanna read the symphysis.
this comic is extra good if you have been into classic horror monsters (Jason, Freddy, Scream, Obviously the ring). though you don't need to actually have seen these horror movies to actually get the comic, you just need a basic idea.
fantasy, oh fantasy fantasy fantasy, if you need fantasy
this one here doesn't upload frequently, though you can read the comic in its truest artform on the website.
nonetheless, it has been updating since the year silence, so I'd love to recommend this again!
if you love gorgeous art in your serious story comics, boom, Fauna is the Fairest!
well okay, I do like Fauna, but bruh, I'm more into that Lovecraftian fantasy! you know these Lovecraftian fantasy comics, you like lovecraftian, show my lovecraftian!
hehe... glad you asked...
a moron's toy
baka's puppet?
the dummy's dummy!
this one is more horror based in an urban fantasy.
no cthulu or cultists of the yellow king (seemingly, yet), but this comic sure as hell gets pretty close with horror of the unknown.
its 5 chapters in, and so far, it has yet to disappoint. the dummy is less of a horror and more of a thriller if anything, not to say the comic has its scary elements, and it has its lovecraftian fantasy horror.
scary, but not too scary, the comic doesn't rely on blood to scare the pants off of you... just read it...
but okay... maybe you aren't into fantasy, you want dat gucci slice O life
(Iwould recommend all the boy love comics, but just look at the trending tab)
boy comics aside
here is Dawg's leftovers
no.... they're not actually leftovers, the comic's actual name is leftovers
I was about to consider putting this in the Neish category, since the comic is alot about music, though I'm sure you don't need to actually be too into jazz to read/enjoy it.
I suggest you read the comic on a browser so you can hear the music that's added to like 70% of the pages. it's also somewhat still fresh being just 24 pages at the time of writing this, so you can just spend like 30 minutes getting caught up.
otherwise, you may have seen Dawg if you've been on the forums for like... a while...
last of the slice my lifu... (call dibs on "Slice my Life" title, Booh yeah!)
is kinda fantasy? kinda slice of life? it's like spiderman, except replace superhero genre with fantasy.
technically another urban fantasy
this comic is weird but ye :u
I'm probably cheating by including another fantasy, but this comic does show potential to be down to earth despite the weird supernatural element, like literally the first plot point is dealing with breakups.
otherwise, is gucci :U
(I'm not going too deep into summaries cuz its litterally on the link, so excuse my vagueness if I came off like that)
Neish before its cool
this category is for those small comics, lets say sure, you're new, but you wanna comicu that's super specific or doesn't have like 5000+ readers but rather.... 4999 or less... cuz you're a weird hipster like me.
well, not usually reader specific, but the genre itself is not mainstream. either that, or it hasn't updated in ages, but I'm suggesting it anyways
let's start with
one word... zombies... do I need to say more? if you like zombies, there... zombies...
Zombies out the way, high fantasy (again)
I've only heard good things about this comic in my time in the Webcomic relief discord
the first few pages show alot of promise, I just haven't gotten around to reading it like the lazy butt I am
this one here is a comedy comic that deserves to have some attention.
the artsyle may not be to the taste for those "digital plebs who only eat digital art", but don't worry! Diego is remaking the comic to be all digital.
nonetheless, the comedy is genius, it literally Satires tropes like the Seinen genre and literally the chosen one trope.
if you don't mind looking at traditional art (or like it), check out Rocky, the hero we all deserve.
okay, but maybe you don't like looking at rocks (shame on you) and aren't into fantasy, you like... Science fiction...
I know at least one with a Neish of 50 subs
this is a strange comic, but I dig it... I really can't explain this comic without making it sound like litterally every science fiction story ever
now that we got the neish out the way... time to shamelessly insert the...
Moron's opinion but less formal
comics from close pals with a very small reading groupu that I personally read or show interest in.
this section is more of my opinion if you want to know the weird stuff I read or like, boom
note that some of these comics I read don't update anymore seemingly...
the following are comic I personally read
if you don't like a comic on this section, too bad, it's my section, not yours >:U
this I like, weird, pixel, cute, cats, and lowkey dark... AND its set in an RPG world like my own comic.
Yes please... it managed to do the aesthetic the newby me tried to do for my own comic but didn't manage to do real well...
the plot twist got me, my personal Isekai
this comic is long dead, but I really liked it ;.;
okay, this one is also dead, but I know its still alive on webtoons, which I'm too lazy to jump on...
this one covers a dystopia with the themes of colors... a little bit ADHD on the plot, but despite its art style, I find it charming to read...
I like this comic, hope it comes back :U
it's this weird dystopia/lovecraftian horror with a pinch of cute on it...
there's even a part with slenderman.
crawling city is a mix of this daily gag comic set in a dystopia with an odd level of world-building added to it subtly
badguy is the protagonist? Flowey is the protagonist?
okay...
I'm a simple man, I see uncanny, I follow...
Uchiki sama's comic, this is her supposedly third remake, and reading from the last itterations... Uchiki's got some big balls to drop
if you check out her comic, tell her Moron from the forums sent ya :u
the shameless self insert section
I've already done this in the introduction of my first post....
but fck it
my inspirations here is dungeons and dragons, pathfinder (especially) and a pinch of george orwell + lovecraft squish...
I'm totally open to feedback and stuff, this is the comic I plan to be le staple of meh :U
I won't cover anything outside the symphosis, :U
expect dying... over... and over.... and over....
you can't escape fate.... death is inevitable
otherwise, if you like slice of life about gods going to high school, and where Ra is an edgy fric
Really Angsty
otherwise, ye, that's my suggestion list
feel free to make your own list in the comments :U
