Hello!! I'm fairy new to uploading comics to webtoons and although I like the community feeling from tapas, my series' numbers seems to be having better numbers over there, or at least more visibility?
Not too sure what that means, I'm still going to update on both sites but just wondering if anyone else has advice about keeping a steady audience on tapas @_@""

Posting consistently is one of the number one things you've got to do.

It's very much a case by case basis, but a lot of folk's anecdotal evidence suggest that it's easier (or more common) to attain bigger numbers on Webtoons than Tapas. Some of that has to do with Webtoons being a larger platform with more readers, so it's somewhat natural that if a story does about as well (relatively speaking) on each platform that you'll walk away with more numbers on the bigger app.

However I'm one of the oddball cases where my comic actually performed quite a bit better on Tapas than Webtoons lol. My comic ran for a little over a year between October 2018 and December 2019 and at this time has 99 subs and many many many more likes and comments on Tapas than Webtoons, where I have 66 subs and a small handful of likes and comments. I have some ideas as to why that probably is, but to keep it short I'm an example of a fringe case lol

As for this:

I don't know if this is still the case but I recall the app used to have a minimum subscriber threshold that you had to pass before your comic would show up on the fresh uploads section of the app... which was a huge barrier to entry because the majority of users use the app. I was able to overcome that threshold somewhat easily by making friends here on the forums that made up a big part of my initial readership and then grew naturally from there. I can't speak to what the 2020 tips and tricks are though... I'm still working on getting some projects ready to begin uploading so I haven't interacted with the main site since December

Of late, I've been hearing complains about webtoons from the forum..Also I think at some point, subscribers plateau on Tapas, and once you've crossed that, it starts increasing again. But personally since mine are little one shots I've been advised to use Instagram but I prefer Tapas. (Shameless self promotion here)

oh for sure, I do remember when tapas was still super new that i'd see a lot of creators collaborating and doing fun guest pages but i dont exactly see that kind of interaction often anymore?
