@apurviance and @Marchen I see y'all name droppin. I see you (OMGthankyouandIlikeyouandIloveyou)!
@blacksuncomic - YES! So glad to see people talking about ECBACC, MeccaCon and OnyxCon! The folks who run them are some seriously wonderful people! ECBACC gave us a Glyph Award this year (so I guess I'm a bit biased on that front - haha)! But seriously, y'all, if any of you can make it to these cons PLEASE go! These events are where you get to see diversity really in action, and meet awesome creators (like Dawud Anyabwile, who created Brotherman)!
@ofneondreams my team and I have a lot of similar thoughts when it comes to comics. We feel really passionately about representation, and even though most of our main characters came in the door the way they are, we strive to continue to keep our world as diverse as possible. Being in Atlanta means we're constantly surrounded by diverse people of all walks, not just race, but gender, sexual orientation, differently abled and body types too. We do our best to reflect the world around us as it is. I actually wrote a whole article talking about this topic called Diversity Isn't Pandering: Notes For the Next Era in Media if you're interested in reading more.
If you haven't given us a look, I invite you to check out Kamikaze and I really hope you enjoy it!
