I'm not sure about the history of Dominican architecture, but our history is not the prettiest. I found one of my dominican heroes, recently though, our first democratically elected president was also an author like me. i'd struggled so hard to find any Dominican born authors.

Those short stories are often a stepping stone for young writers to start their careers. (Also congrats on wining a prize there! I forgot to mention last post)

tysm, i agree. the competition i participated prided itself in submissions being read 'blind' so they had no idea who submitted them and judged entirely off of merit. Definitely the high point of my career so far, though i'd been published before for essays, that was my first published work of fiction

Many of my stories take place in the future too so in my utopic view I thought many people would be multi ethnic as people bridge the gap between their cultures. So nearly all my characters are.

yeah, my little brother and i were just commenting earlier like, every other character in all of our stories is biracial or multi-ethnic. sometimes we have whole families with so many different ethnicities in their ancestry they just shade in the globe when tracking their ancestry lol

@Leyelle Yes, unfortunately I think most countries have really dark histories and especially in the Americas. And yeah I haven’t heard of alot of Dominican authors but there are some. You could be helping other Dominican authors be seen as you publish more work, kinda showing like hey we exist, and we have stories too!

This is Elysif Avian. She is a doctor and witch from 1888 that makes and sells opium on the side. She likes dissecting things and let's her curiosity get the better of her. Also an advocate for women's rights.

This is Compton Langston. He is a traveling agent of the Table, a supernatural peacekeeping organization as well as Elysif's uncle via adoption. He enjoys upper class dining and card games. Though he has a knack for having entire conversations by himself due to traveling alone for so long, he is a very smooth talker.
