Can I have a comic with the same title as another?

When I first came up with the title of my comic, I did an initial search for any with the same name. At the time, nothing came back. But I did another search today and it came back with what looks like a comic strip that has a few pages on DeviantArt. It's a completely different genre, style, and topic than my comic, but the titles are basically the same. Will this be a problem? I don't want to do anything unethical. I'm getting geared-up to release my first chapter and was working on my comic's logo -- I didn't want to put a lot of work into the identity and then have to change it later.

What is the title? (Just wondering)
I wouldn't worry too much about it, with the amount of creative content being uploaded daily there is always bound to be something else with a similar title, character or theme. If the title is relevant to your comic then stick with it! It isn't unethical to have anything similar to another persons content if you didn't intend it.

The only real issue is that you'd be competing to show up in searches against the other comic. Like if they have more followers they're going to show up first when people google the title, so that's something to consider.

IN SERIOUSNESS THOUGH, I think the bigger question is, are you and this other comic likely to get in each other's way?

If you're both doing webcomics and trying to get somewhere with them and going to conventions and posting your comics on the same websites, then........... you probably CAN have the same title, but that might be a point at which you consider tweaking yours, if for no other reason than being constantly mixed up with this other person will get annoying.
But if it's just "somewhere, a comic strip technically exists that used this title," and it's not a currently updating thing that's gonna compete or cause confusion for your audience, I really wouldn't see that as unethical or unwise!

I bumped into few the same titles as mine on SJ. Most of them was BL... sigh
But it doesn't cause any problems, it's not like you stole it, it's completely different story.

Okay, great! I suspect it would be alright, but I wanted to be sure I wasn't breaching some protocol.

In terms of competition, it seems the other comic is done "just for fun", so I don't think there will be too much overlap, if at all.
