I can only imagine a perfect world were everybody was respectful of the stories that others wanted to tell. It's too bad that perfect world doesn't exist. I see people bashing comics because it follows "the same formulaic pattern" that a lot of other comics and novels follow. Sometimes, me thinks the reason people have the energy to hate is because they've given up on their dreams of creativity even though they're blind to the fact that others can see the beauty in their works.
Folks have to be careful with spreading the seeds of hatred. If left unchecked, it'll just fester into a poisonous thirst for blood or some weird allegory. What I mean is they become trolls, and everybody online can name the trolls they've encountered. I know I can. This is why cancel culture is a stupid concept. When people are less busy with their time, that they put all of their kinetic energy into trying to plague a creator or tv show, movie, comic, book, etc with constant criticisms. Someone said it on here earlier, but "if you can't afford to fail, you can't afford to succeed". That holds valuable truth. People really expect overnight success with their. Content. Granted, I do know of some comic series here on Tapas that trended so fast that it was wholly unreasonable, but at the end of the day, you can thank the great algorithm of the internet and personal interest for that.
Some people's success is uncontrollable. To those who get butt-hurt about the acclaim of a particular series, I say "get over it"! Folks can complain all the live long day about why a series doesn't deserve the praise it gets, but I'd like to think we're all in the same boat in a way. This is a webcomics service geared towards indie creators. I might get some flack for saying this but, some of the popular series on here or other websites may not garner enough attention to even leave the website its posted to and become a massive hit. We're talking multi-billion dollar company massive hit. Guess what? That's okay, something doesn't need to have a monstrous cult following to become popular.
I think if this issue persists, people should either:
A.) Keep to themselves and create content for their specific audience, and don't bookmark other people's series and/or follow them on social media.
OR
B.) Simply compliment others for their hard work and dedication, be friendly once in a while, and continue to create their own works, even if they only have 5 people following them.
It all depends on perspective, as with most things in life. You'll have those on the higher epsilon of the hierarchy, those in the middle, and those at the bottom.
