Can you bump your own promo threads?

I'm curious since I don't like promoting all that much; is it possible to make a thread with the info and bump it occasionally (not spam obviously) or is that worse?

Seems like it would just kinda clog up the forums to have a thread dedicated to one particular comic constantly popping to the top of things from bumps? And I don't think it'd really drive any traffic to your comic...

Instead of bumping a dead thread, I'd recommend you put a link to your comic in your forum bio, then just interact in interesting threads with other people. When you say interesting things, interact with people, act as part of the community, people will click on your name, see your bio, and BAM, they're clicking the link to your comic because you're an interesting person and they actually want to know what you make.

And you know, you can still post links in relevant promotional threads, and look for relevant places to draw attention to it. I'm of the belief that the more organic your interactions with others, though, the more likely you are to get subs.

I've certainly seen people do it. Somebody a few months back had a promo thread that was nearly entirely composed of posts by the OP bumping their own thread every few days.

Personally I'd advise not making a promo thread unless it has a secondary purpose like you're giving out reviews, showing off concept art or tutorials, that kind of thing. There are plenty of general promo threads around you can post on. If you're posting on those and nobody's clicking on your comic or novel, take it as a sign that you might need a better or more effective thumbnail/banner/cover and description. Just bumping one promo thread over and over that nobody wants to engage with might actually make people less likely to read, because it looks desperate, and if it looks like you can't get readers and you're desperate, people might assume your work isn't good and you're looking for pity-reads. Better to swagger into an existing promo thread, drop a really cool looking work and then play it cool, in my opinion anyway.
