sadly not in a lot of places. I heard a case of an autistic boy had a pig as a therapy pet and it was taken away from him despite them having the accommodations for it. Pigs are sweet animals :c

Wtf what is wrong with wherever you live, here the worst thing that can happen if you own a pig is that your neighbor will be pissed at you and write in to a tv show about neighbors that don't get along.

In the states a pig is a farm animal and it's considered dirty and disgusting and people fear catching disease. You need a permit for them and you have to prove you own a farm. It sucks because they make great pets

Here it depends on the specific city you live and you need to be registered at some specific institution, but you don't need to own a farm really.
