I remember teenage me got so upset at L's death that I straight up stopped reading. <XD He seemed like such an interesting foil to Light, but then just... nope. Dead.

Okay so I know everyone dies in this one and it's kind of a depressing story in general... but TOBOE WAS SUCH A GOOD BOY HE DIDN'T DESERVE THIS QnQ

Also, and this is the biggest one for me- Any movie where a pet dog or cat, or other beloved, innocent animal dies. I stg if any story pulls a Death By Newbery Medal, I get irrational levels of angry at it. XD ; Especially if any trailer or advertisement for it dresses it up as a fun, happy feel-good story. My Dog Skip fucked me up as a kid, so I learned to avoid any book or movie that centered around the life of an animal, because I knew it'd also include the death part... Same with if I see any comic on tumblr where there's a human and animal, or two people doing cute things together, and then I see them starting to get older in the panels- I know I gotta avert my gaze and scroll past the rest of it if I don't wanna feel emotionally dead for the next hour or so.

(Doesthedogdie is a godsend of a website if you wanna avoid stuff like this, by the way. x_x I can handle a lot of stuff, but... Whenever there's a deep bond with an animal that's broken by death, I just can't.)

Has anyone said Kamina from Gurren Lagann? I cried the first time I watched that scene. Its the only time an anime death actually got to me.

Lol I cannot who thought it was a good idea to have a small girl drown in a river alone in a kid's film about imagination. Left me bawling.

It was a Newberry award winner book first. The point of the story was to teach kids to treasure your friends while you have them and let imagination sore because soon enough real world hits ya.... at least that's what my children's lit prof liked to say.

I just read that famous hentai "Metamorphoses" by ShindoL last night and MAN IT WAS SCARY. I also felt really bad for the girl at the end (she died), but at the same time, she made so many bad choices. Some were because no one tried help her, and some were because she didn't try to share or explain herself properly.

Don't do drugs.

Edit: an innocent girl blablahblah somehow gets into prostitution and the usual slutfest hentai plot. She slowly falls into depression and misses how she used to be. One of the guys she is with gives her drugs, and while she is high, she experiences her past self and is addicted to drugs as it brings her back to a time before her innocence was lost. As time goes on, her drug habit worsens, and eventually she ends up pregnant. She continues screwing around even while pregnant until some guys beat her and basically kick her in the stomach. As those guys leave, she looks at herself in the dirty bathroom mirror. She puts on her glasses again, and styles her hair back into the girlish braids she used to wear. She decides to inject herself one more time, but this time saying that it's for the sake of her child. The manga flashes to a scene of a mother and her child. The mother says her daughter is the best thing that's ever happened to her. And mommy was in a very dark place before Hana was born and gave her life meaning. The scene flashes back to the present, and all we see are her glasses, blood on the bathroom floor, and a used needle.

The female protagonist, knowing her baby was probably kicked to death in her belly, overdosed and let herself join her dead unborn child in a better place away from the sexual and physical abuse.

Arthas Menethil/The Lich King in World of Warcraft.

Not only is he my favorite character of all time, but I think he has one of the best stories of a character starting off good and turning out inexplicably evil. His first turns to "evil" deeds are morally gray and you understand why he made them (some of the best internet debates ive seen have come from whether people agree with his actions or not), and as he slowly falls into the madness of becoming the Lich King, he does more and more evil deeds until we (the player, since WoW is an MMORPG) finally have to put him down. And at the end of his life, he just accepts that he's going to go to a place worse than hell and dies.

Emille's death from Valiant Hearts. When I first watched playthroughs of it I almost teared up, because jesus, was that entire game heavy, especially towards the end. Also the fact that Emille dies thinking his son-in-law was dead. He died thinking he failed Karl, but he actually lives. Damn...

Johan from YuGiOh GX. To be fair, I went into this anime from tumblr clips showing me Judai was an evil lord monster and I come into Happy Fun Highschool Times. It was a lovely rollercoaster of screaming and laughing, but Johan's death ? I walked out the door for 8 months until students at work begged me to finish since they knew the plot got better.

Permanent death that just ripped up my kokoro feels? Kamina, from TTGL. Just, so much. Did not expect that. The story handled it really well, but I was just very much screaming.

There's also a death at the end of Tales of Symphonia that I just.... MMMMMM I'm so glad there's a sequel to that game cause "are the heroes really doing the right thing" questions for the world just was too perfect. It won't ever erase that death from Symphonia 1. QAQ Replay of that game always leaves me in tears.

I actually recommend that movie as the movie for people wanting to get into anime need to watch. It's proof that anime can be more than a kid's cartoon. My second recommendation is Tokyo Godfathers.

I watch Tokyo Godfathers every December, I don't know if its considered under rated, but I just love all of Satoshi Kon's movies. cliche as it might be I love Wolf Children as a tear jerker and Welcome to the Spaceshow as great films for introductions (I don't know if Welcome to the Spaceshow ever got a western release though).

Yeah, i could see the death of one of them as a consequence of the ending, but continuing without L, the fascinating battle of wits between the world`s smartest genious and their opossing views of justice was just not the same.

Yes.........few single arc antagonists can hit you that hard........in the heart.....also the fact that they were mercenaries doing their job......they could have been allies for Konoha in different circumstances but just because they worked for the wrong guy.....Yeah, they worked for a gangster, and their choices are their own, but daaaaamn, they are tragic characters.

It was

Korosensei (Assassination Classroom). Even though I had been expecting it as far back as they went to Kyoto, the moment when he started his final roll call and the students finally killed their best teacher still hit me like a truck. Maybe because deep inside my heart I'm longing for a teacher like him.

In contrast I didn't shed any tear from watching Anohana.

Fred Weasley. Fred Weasley's death killed me.......... I'm still in pain over it......

First one that hit me hard was Aerith from Final Fantasy VII. It was totally unexpected especially since she became one of my most liked characters in the game. I did everything to get a date with her and she was almost always my party member. That one made me cry because of a game for the first time too what made her special.

One that made me just simply mentaly miserable was 2B's death from Nier:Automata. The whole game was depressing so A/B endings filled my heart with hope that somehow the story will have partially happy ending... But no. My another favourite character (and no, not because of her looks but character and her interactions with 9S) had to die. I almost quit the game completely then even if I loved it very much before. Fortunately I didn't and fell with it even more.

Xion from Kingdom Hearts. She didn't have it easy from the very beginning and she had to sacrifice her own life even if they made her to be only a tool. Almost made me cry

And the last one that I remember was the old lady from "Crime and punishment". I had to read this for school and, oh my, this made me paranoid for weeks! Of course it hit me not the same way the others did. But even if I cried and was sad because of other characters especially since I could grow attachment to them, this just made the most memorable death scene for long for me. I was genuinely afraid to be alone at night and had to call several people the evening I read first part of the book so they could comfort me. I've never felt like this before and after because of a book and that was kinda wonderful, that I could feel this kind of emotion.

The first time I cried from a comic was when I was 5-6 reading Ultimate Spider-Man when Uncle Ben died. It's seems a little silly since you kind of expect him to die but I was really young and the comic did such a good job making him likable heartwarming character I was really shocked it happened.

I also remember shedding a tear at the end of Wind Waker when the King stayed behind. Of all the Zelda characters to die, he's the one I really wished survived.
