I don't want to be rude but you're saying you don't expect it to be "too long" but then say "probably less than 100 episodes"...

For one, I'm going to assume 100 is a ballpark number so it's going to be somewhere between like 70-100 episodes and not end up being a whole lot less than that like 4. You also say you want 2 episodes out per month and no backing out.

Say the story reaches 72 episodes, that means you want someone on the hook for 3 years for no pay for a project you don't want to make a full time job because you are a busy student, which I understand, but most people are also busy, and 3 years is a MASSIVE COMMITMENT. Even just 24 episodes is a year's worth of work.

I'd advise you work out for sure how many episodes there'll be first to know how long this project would take + if you want to get anyone invested, include a pitch for the actual story. No one is going to work for free for years on a story they know nothing about.

I get where you're coming from. But remember what I said about sharing 40-50% of ad revenue? Say that we work hard enough where the comic eventually reaches a certain number of views every month. There's always a potential for some kind of profit and the best thing about this is that both me and ppl that help me out can get their name out there (which means potential for more attention and a higher following).

I never said I'll never pay my colorists. I just said that I won't pay them UPFRONT. Meaning, if they stick to the commitment, I'm more than willing to share the profit we've generated.

I love how ppl always think that they will reach enough views for monetization, also you ask us to have a PAID SOFTWARE but expect to get paid until (if that happens) they get famous lol

I mean, there are still options to use free software, like Krita or Medibang, but to do comics professionally it's best to use professional software. There's a reason why they're not free. In the end, you get what you pay for. CSP and Procreate are both pretty affordable in my experience and I've seen a lot of people use them. They're trusted software.

Also, collabs are for people that are WILLING to make the effort to put themselves out there, for free or not. If you genuinely have a passion for comics or illustration, you wouldn't complain much about conditions as long as they're fair. These are people that end up really growing & keep the creative community alive.

Again, I'm not forcing anyone, I'm just putting an ad up as a means to find people that are willing to help, so plz don't post your criticisms here.

The thing is, most of us know how likely making any money on webtoon canvas is. 50% of nothing is still nothing and most projects get nothing from adrev on webtoon. Even if it where to be a unicorn and make any money at all on canvas we're talking pennies, so little it's unlikely to be divisible by 2.

When you say "I'll pay you with adrev" you are saying you don't pay. In your second message you've tacked on "I'll also give you exposure".

When you make these sorts of announcements you're trying to convince people with skills you don't have to spend their finite time working on your project rather than on their own personal stuff. This means you either have to offer them:

• money upfront for their time, more than they'll make on their own project (which isn't that hard if they're going off adrev because again, at best adrev gets you pennies unless you're partnered with the platform)

• low commitment, either for a short-term project with a clear end-date or the ability to leave after a short term period

• a project that is really cool that makes them want to work on it despite high effort, long hours and/or low pay. This means you have to come in with a brilliant pitch straight off, not a link to a discord server that is made very unappealing by the rest of the offer.

I'm telling you this so that you can better pitch your thing next time wherever you try next time, because right now I get the read of someone who hasn't got a solid project (unknown amount of chapters, does not lead with pitch for the story, not even genre), not a solid grasp on what to expect or what the norms are for webtoon (describes multi-year project as "short term", thinks adrev is in any way probable or appealing as a payment plan for an artist) and this waves a lot of red flags for any artist looking to collaborate. Some artists will work for exposure but they'll only do it if your pitch is fun and speaks to them and your expectations are grounded in reality.

What do you mean Ad Rev gets you pennies? Have you even tried it out? Sure, webtoon creators are underpaid, but if you have a good enough passion for it money isn't the only thing you should be after. There are some ppl that have applied already that are willing to help. WEBTOON also provides ways where your comic can be turned into another medium (TV show, graphic novel, etc) so Ad Rev technically isn't the only thing that can turn into profit, given that your comic performs well.

And like I said on my post, more info about me and my comic (aka the "pitch" you're talking about) is already on my discord. I don't know why I have to keep repeating this.

turning in another medium sounds good, but is your series really THAT well performing?

not to pressure you, but i really doubt your colorist should expect anything. It's okay to call for people who's ready to work for passion only too, ofc! But then, you should flag that accordingly.
Your promises to pay are super misleading for the people who doesn't know average comic income, and that's what makes some people angry.
It's not okay to manipulate others into long time commitment (yes, 100 eps is not a short project at all)

I don't understand what you mean by "misleading" or "manipulate." I'm not here to scam ppl, nor are my promises to share income false. I am willing to share, IF the comic performs well. With a proper storyline, no recurring themes, and interesting characters, any comic can turn into a potential bestseller. This is what I see going on with already popular, existing comics.

Compared to comics that have been going on for years and years with hundreds of episodes, a comic that has 50~100 episodes isn't too long or overwhelming. Plus, if something happens to a person or they have some important life event, I'm always open to adjusting or moving around work schedules.

The main point here is gathering people that have a true passion for comics (or any creative project for that matter) and are willing to help regardless of income. I'm not looking for ppl that are only after money. People don't earn much in the art field to begin with, which I'm pretty sure most ppl know already.

I NEVER said you'll become rich participating on my project. All I'm saying is that if you're willing to help, are NOT in it for the money, and have a passion for comics as much as I do, to plz help out and join me.

And is $50 not money? This being "pennies" or whatever is an understatement. ANY amount you earn from endeavors like this is something you should be grateful for, not to be displeased about. This is more of a passion project that could POSSIBLY turn into some side income, not a full-time job that pays all your bills.

I think I was pretty straightforward with my point, and I really don't need all this negativity or this "don't even try" mood. If you're not interested in helping out, just leave.

I believe you missed the point people are trying to make. The word "misleading" does not mean "lying" but you should consider that many people don't want to be homeless for your idea of "true passion". That my child, is called childish nonsense. I hope you understand my explanation and reconsider your wordings in this thread. I know there are people who would love to work for ad revenues but know that they too may not have the same passion you do.

What true passion looks like is loving yourself and doing it for yourself and that can still include gaining financial benefits. Meaning, if someone wants to be rich making comics they can dream too.
