Comic support partners (matchmaking thread)

So this thread was inspired by this comment by darthmongoose; I figured maybe it could be helpful to have that one person who always likes and comments on each update even if you're not super fans of each other's comics (which I'd say is an ideal situation). Certainly I'd feel more motivated if I had someone's input to look forward to, and if I'm supporting them in return I wouldn't feel bad about it even if they aren't really a fan of my stuff

So here's what I had in mind:

• a comic support partner likes and comment every time their partner updates their comic. That's it! You don't have to be a fan of your partner's comic (though of course it would make things more enjoyable); you just need to be willing to put in the effort to supporting it by liking and commenting on each new update :]
• if you want a comic support partner, comment on this thread with:
  -- a link to the comic you want your partner to support
  -- (optional) what you'll be like as a supporter
• or you can just reach out to someone who has already commented with a 'profile' if you're interested in being their support partner (if you commented with a 'profile' yourself but get no hits, you probably have to do this as well)
• if you're no longer looking for a comic support partner, please edit your 'profile' comment to indicate that

Isn't this just sub-for-sub with extra steps? I'd argue not It's less about boosting each other's numbers for the algorithm and more about providing each other continuous support in a more concrete way that I feel like everyone who's 'looking for comic friends' is really after. Arrangements like that often just lead to us slipping away from each other after a while since it's so nebulous, and maybe this is an answer to that problem?

Okay, so about me:

• This is the comic I'm actively working on (and thus would like support for)
• Even if I am a fan of your comic as a whole, I might still be critiquey on some of your episodes if I personally feel they're comparatively weaker. If I have to say something, I'll prioritize speaking my mind over coming up with something positive to say. I don't believe in 'brutal honesty' and won't be unnecessarily disparaging, and I tend to stay away from sarcasm unless I'm laughing with the author. But if you're looking for a pillar of support and encouragement who always has good vibes to spare (which is totally valid!), I may not be the partner for you :'D

I'd prefer a support partner who appreciates my story at least somewhat, so don't take me up on this unless you have a genuine interest in reading each update... which isn't to say that every interaction has to be all positive or that you have to be a huge fan of it. Would love some honest constructive feedback from an impartial "comic friend" too. I'm not scared of criticism. Just don't reach out if reading my comic is about as fun as pulling teeth for you :')

As a supporter, I'll like each of your updates and leave a short comment. If you'd like to receive constructive criticism, I'll write something longer to praise something I liked and criticize something I thought was weak, with an overall opinion of the episode as a whole.

Not interested in written stories. I'd prefer to read on Webtoon if possible, but will leave a like/comment on whichever platform you prefer (or both). Any genre other than romance is fine.

This sounds great! As much as I'd like the Sub number to go up, it would be genuinely be nice to know someone is actually interested in the comic. Also a boost and moral to know it was seen by someone.

I also think i'd be helpful in the matchmaking process if peps would add genre labels with their link. I would feel kinda bad if my partner feels obligated to read my comic about ACTION and ADVENTURE when they really like ROMANTIC COMEDIES.

Soul Might is a Melodramatic Battle comic where characters face-off against eachother, hardened by their own strong convictions. From Chapter to Chapter, the story will switch between two protagonists; Rhet ,The Fighting Prodigy and Kear, The Military Vanguard!

Nightmare's novel! I warn you, it can be really hard to follow sometimes. If you don't care about that, I think it's super funny! It can also have a lot of drama go down at times. I did the cover for him! Please read our stories if you're interested at all!

About me: I am making a BL comic with lots of drama and fantasy elements (don't worry, it's SFW). I don't necessarily require someone who sing praises every chapter. Comment whatever you like/dislike whatever. It helps me to know whether I am showing something I intended to. But comments on the art is off-limits tho. I cannot improve my art because I don't have the equipment for it yet so criticism for it is like giving me something I cannot do anything about.
As a supporter, I'll do the same. You can request if you want me to be casual or do serious reviews. I appreciate all genres except grimdark.

Ayyy I guess this is less about just getting people to read each other's comics and more to actively comment and engage with each other's comics (and as a serial read-and-run subscriber myself, I know for a fact that there's a huge difference :P)

Your comic's chugging along quite nicely so I'm guessing you don't have as much reason to look for a support partner, but if you do wanna join this little experiment, you're more than welcome to drop a profile or reach out to someone else in this thread

Yeah, absolutely!

In terms of a support partner, I'm happy just finding smaller comics that I enjoy and letting the person know I like their stuff, I don't really feel the need to ask for it in return for my comic.

I'm much more likely to comment on smaller series, usually with bigger ones I feel like my comments are gonna get drowned out

Yo! this is pretty neat!
I have some pretty great fans for my comic and If you're reading this y'all are great. but ya know I like my work and I like sharing it with people.

My comic: See the Stars currently has 26 pages, and updates twice a week. It is a dark scifi satire, focussing on a soap opera addicted technitian, a nervous wreck pilot, a disillusioned medic and a surprisingly kind murder machine. they are sent on a series of missions by their evil corporate overlord to stop union uprisings, retrieve goods and destroy rival companies. but along the way they find things don't add up and that something is being hidden from them. something very important.
