If anyone is flooding your twitter feed with politics or hot arguments or cussing you can either MUTE specific thread or outright BLOCK them or UNFOLLOW them. Like, saying something for a cause at some point is fine, but if it's 24/7 barrage, it's not worth to have your TL flooded with toxic arguments. It's just unhealthy.
In terms of seeing and being seen, well, tbh, what I did was to PIN a tweet with my links to wattpad and tapas and the 4 book quotes, and then I just tweet about stuff that interests me, figure skating, writing, video games and gardening. My handle also says that I write EPIC ESCAPISM.
I rarely get likes and retweets on my own tweets, but when I respond, I get more engagement and people visit my profile.
This way, i don't have to jump out of my skin to advertise and annoy people, but do have my books out here a little bit.
I tried to do that on Instagram, but I find that people just don't engage on Insta, so I simply follow my beloved figure skaters, and get my happy fan moments from congratulating them or complimenting them after they post some of their pictures or whatever, and I follow some people from this forum.
The only thing I could think of about attracting people with my writing was super-short stories (flash-fictions) and they went down like led balloon on both Insta and Twitter. And they take a long time to write, polish and prepare on "slides" so forget it.
