I think I hit the jackpot with my partner (7 years) also being an artist & writer
I was never really into dating when I met him, we just happened to meet online and got along really well and things went from there now I live with him and he helps keep me sane
and I see similar things here in the thread, a lot of people who aren't artists will have trouble taking your profession seriously as more than a hobby
