Difference in daily vs weekly uploads

The Demon in the Sea - First chapter posted August 19th - 18 subscribers after 1 week with only 1 chapter.
Second chapter posted August 26th - Currently at 28 subscribers

The Love of a Werewolf - First chapter posted August 11th - 56 subscribers after 1 week with 7 chapters.

I had a couple days where I could only post every other day due to laptop issues. I still have no news on my laptops hard drive so I’ve been rewriting and editing TLoaW in order to post daily.

Current to today - I have 122 subscribers to TLoaW

I'm offering early chapters in my patreon for The Demon in the Sea so I'm planning on keeping it weekly. The obvious benefit The Demon in the Sea has is that I already had 8 chapters out of The Love of a Werewolf. According to my stats, The Love of a Werewolf had 76 subs on the 19th. I got the most subscribers for The Demon in the Sea on the first day I posted it (8). After that they kind of trickled in with only one day passing without a new subscriber. Throughout this time, I was still posting TLoaW either daily or every other day.

I just thought it might be interesting to other creators to see the difference in daily vs weekly. I knew growth would be slower for weekly updates but that's a 38 sub difference between the two! If I weren't working I'd almost be willing to start a third novel and update it 2-3 times a week and see how that affects sub-growth.

For my novel, daily is largely uneventful. If anything, it just shows me that I have 1 or 2 binge readers. I might be up to 3 binge readers now.... Hard to tell. But I can also tell they aren't binging the entire thing in one day. They come and binge 40~80 uploads give or take once a month.
Could also be a new reader binging to see if they like it.

Interestingly, my monthly overall has remained pretty stable at 100 ish views a month.
And the same cannot be said for series that updates randomly (Campfire) or twice a month (Barely There Cruelly)

That's really interesting how different our daily graphs are! I have heard some people with novels wait until chapters build up and the binge read though!

Yes, and no. I know I'd binge read a fair bit before I'd even sub.

This is the graph of a completed short story novel of mine here on tapas, and as you can see the numbers are far lower.

They're also tapering off iirc because I haven't made the new book cover image for it, which iirc means it won't appear in searches and such after July 28th.

I've definitely seen someone mention in the forums that views dry up pretty quickly with a completed story on this site!

You should update it and see if that effects your views!

There's no reason to update a story that has completed just to test the views, especially when it won't benefit the story in any manner.

Your choice obviously I would just be sad if I knew my work wouldn't show up in searches. Plus there could always be a snowball effect with works. Someone new could find a hidden work and like it enough to check out my other works, so that'd make it worth it me personally

I've got that hope for "snowball effect" covered. Several of my stories update on different days of the week, at various times throughout the months, and have scheduled decently into next year both with current works, and uploading another completed work.
Trust me. I make use of and abuse the Scheduling feature of this site.

I started uploading Demetori at the start of the month. I have 40 subs (lost one today which sucks). It's nice to see that it might consistently be going up. My upload schedule is three times a week, I'm experimenting on times too.

For the Subs its kind of inconsistent, which makes me a little worried. I uploaded three times this weekend and only gained like 1 sub. Not sure why yet. It's interesting to look at as I usually don't care too much about analytic. What I can say is that the more you upload the faster growth seems to go, but there are exceptions. Something like Romance is always going to draw more readers than something like Fantasy or Horror.

For my first month I'm overall quite proud. I wanted to hit 50 subs within its first month but I don't see 10 subs coming in under 2 days.

I peeked over at your uploads! Your three uploads this weekend were on all the same day, so that could be part of why the three uploads didn't equal more subs? Instead of the uploads keeping you on Fresh three separate days, they were only worth one boost.

I'm still fairly new to Tapas though! I'm just sharing some of the advice/knowledge I've seen around the forums

I had those couple big subs boosts at the beginning (I think I was high on trending those two days), then my subs pretty much evened out. Especially when you compare it to The Demon in the Sea where I got a big sub boost, then they dropped off, then I uploaded chapter 2 and had a big sub boost again. My The Love of a Werewolf graph is kind of similar to your sub graph, a couple jumps, the lowering some but evening out to a sort of consistent gain.

From what I've seen, 40 subs in a month is really good for novels on this site! I hope you get to 50 quickly too

man I wish I could manage more updates. If I could manage weekly updates I would love it. 3 days a week would only be possible if it was my full time job and even then I think 2 a week might be my limit unless I hired a colorist or something

That is a benefit to novelists. If you're an outliner and a quick writer then daily/several day a week uploads are more than possible.

I think comic fans are more used to having to wait longer periods for the next page/chapter though!

Yeah true lol I wish I could get it weekly though. Right now I can only do biweeky. It just doesn't make enough money to justify a high enough priority in my life balance to take some other positions XP It is what it is though

Oh, I actually uploaded 6 times that week. I had an event on and posted a short story which was 3 more posts. So I upload Wednesday/Friday/Sunday.
