I hate having to contribute to the gender stereotypes but I feel like defending Tapas choices here is more important. Here is a quick example set of Tapas promoting "MALE TARGETED" things:
Girls with big boobs, straight, told from a man's perspective.
Girls with big boobs, straight, HAREM, told from a man's perspective.
Girl who gets her clothes stolen, ripped, etc in various ways in a post apocalyptic world. Pantyshots. Horror. Thumbnail has the typical ass and boobs pose that has been traditionally used to attract men to a comic. (which honestly, all these comics, I don't mind these things. Boobs are great. Women are great. Do what you like and read what you like, I don't care)
This doesn't look very tumblr friendly to me. In fact, tumblrinas would see this and scream murder.
These are just a handful of tapas promoted comics that do not fit your idea of what tapas "only" promotes. I could go on but then we'd be here all day. Point is, tapas promotes a very diverse range of content. The fact that some of it does better than others depends on the audience. You can promote all you want but you cannot force audiences to read and pay for content that doesn't suit them.
I think Tapas should be celebrated for the fact that they promote varied types of content, INCLUDING lgbt content.
What has traditional media done? Promoted everything but gay content (or things created by ethnicities they don't want in the game) for years, and what do you know, gay content didn't do well because it wasn't even allowed into the medium.
Tapas promotes all kinds, except for hateful content (i.e. Nazi, homophobic, etc). Some do well, some don't. Tapas continues to allow and promote all kinds of content. Some continue to do well while some don't. Tapas can't do any more than they are already doing, as they (as has been said) cannot force people to read things they are uninterested in. I don't see what tapas is doing wrong here.
