Do you have a character or characters with no story?

Oh yeah tons, some that just don't fit in with my comic and others who just need a little bit more refining in tweaks before they are introduced.

I have a handful of selkie ocs, but with a bit of tweaking, they fit perfectly into my comic.

But I have a lot that are the other way around. All kinds of story but no character designs... until I have to draw them because it's time for them to appear in the comic.

tons! as a person who sometimes enjoys just designing characters it's easy for me to build up a large catalog of characters with no story or background (part of the reason why i started selling them as adopts)

it's not uncommon for me to get attached to certain designs and fleshing them out but it usually depends on level of inspiration or the amount of potential i see in a design

I understand! been implying that too with some of my characters but sometimes I see myself forced to create characters that could be significant for the character I want to develop like (friends, enemies, family,etc) depending how relevant they are for the character and it´s development :v

Oh let me give you some tips that maybe can help you when you draw them?

The character´s pose tell alot about them and their personality (timid, dominant, serious, extrovert,etc.)
it´s like body language

The character´s clothing it also tells you what´s like their fashion preference unless they count with a uniform or something for example idk xd

So to define a character you just need their posture, clothing, and their facial expressions or usual mood so it complements them

I totally agree I aswell really like character design and yeah sometimes I like some alot that I just wanna give them a story or protagonism

Oh an yeah inspiration counts alot altough sometimes I have an idea but don´t know how to do it lol

Not really, I usually get the characters' ideas together with the story, at the same time.

Well I also relate on that when some characters don´t fit or just look out of place although I think its interesting and even fun to have different aesthetics?

like having characters with different stories and environments like for example (fantasy, medieval, modern, futuristic, etc, ect)

I literally CANNOT stop making OCs. It's like my passion lol. I love character design so much, I literally have over 200 OCs because I can't stop making them. Needless to say, most aren't very developed/don't have stories.

I usually have the characters first and then the story so technically all my characters were once storyless

Absolutely haha, I both write and draw and a lot of the characters I have are purely for drawing and often don't really have a story or even personality.

Just have a couple of them. I cant help to give them a backstory once I have created them.

The only exceptions are a fish oc I couldnt find aplace where to make him fit in in one of my old stories and the ocs I do for my work irl

Yeah, OCs. i have a lot in my younger years, i made less and less now, still have some new ones outside my comic series though. Some are/were rejected or became obsolete, some were created for assignments, some were supposedly game characters but i never really made the games.

Usually I'll have some idea of their background and the world they live in, but other than that I've yet to think of compelling plots to involve them in. I know the plots don't have to be 'big' and can just be slice-of-lifey, but I currently don't have time to work on each one. I have to finish the current ones on my plate first.

I have a giant gorilla called Gorn who I removed from my comic years ago because I thought drawing gorillas was going to be a pain.

I might let him have a little cameo in the background somewhere because I feel bad.

Yes!!! Lately I think about the story first, but most of my work is about expressing feelings and emotions. So I draw them regularly but they are often showing the same emotion. Sometimes they are given a story later.

This is "Passion" in the original sense of the word, which is suffering.
