... I know the entire plot of my comic. It's all up in my head. This definatelly helps when it comes to things like foreshadowing and knowing like, okay, this event is going to be coming up soon I need to start working towards it. Eventually this character will be introduced so where can I sneak them into the background or make subtle mentions?

I sometime think to myself, if anything ever happened to me my comic is just over. It's just done. And that's a little scary right?

I mean, I have folders in my google drive specific to each story I work on. Back when I had only one story, I had physical folder where I kept sketches, story ideas, and references. After I moved everything digital, now only sketches are kept traditional, spread out across multiple sketchbooks that I have to go back through if I want to reference them.

Yea, I have an app for writing novels where I write both my novels and comics. I have several projects fully written just waiting to be picked up. Too bad I don’t draw as fast as I write.

No. I have a waterfall of "Errant Draft X" files in a google drive folder. Because when I make big changes to the story going forward, I keep the old draft and make a new file, but obviously I start from where the story has reached already rather than pasting in stuff I already got past.

So there is no one file where you could read Errant in its entirety.

Current draft, for anyone wondering is called "Errant Lucky Draft 13", and it has actually been quite lucky, it's been one of the longest ongoing drafts without me starting a new file!

Kind of yes and no.
I have a list of all "pages" for the comic right up to its conclusion. some pages may be expanded in future but all story beats are there. Technically mines only a short self contained story.
the speech bubble script for these pages are also rough drafted. I have action notes also.
After drawing the page I may edit the script before finalising.
Nothing is ever final but a clear outline is there. I even do some concept art time to time for future pages a couple of years down the line.
I delete pages from the list as I complete them as it gives me a sense of reaching my goal (to complete it before my 50th birthday!).

For the first 2 stories I made for my ongoing webcomic, I come up with the script as I go. I kinda regret it cuz there's always a plot hole or messy storyline.
I tried to finish the script till the ending of my third story. I feel like the overall storyline flows better, and hopefully, my readers feel the same, haha.

Yup! I have the whole script on my google doc (with mutilple backups elsewhere.) It's organised into scenes, chapters and volumes.

I have multiple different drafts though- Draft 1 (not edited), Draft 2(major edits) and then what I call the "Comic Ready Script," where I end up making changes after making pages as I later realise how to better communicate some scenes sometimes, and I occasionally cut down on things I think have already been conveyed visually.

Title question: Technically it's not in one file, but in practice there's one file I keep going back to which contains all iterations of my draft XD I use {curly brackets} to 'quote out' obsolete script because my edits are all over the place and it's hard to say when one draft ends and the other begins But basically all my unquoted script is my current script :]

Question in the actual OP: I do not have everything written. I have an outline and some very important scenes I felt compelled to write about even though I won't get around to drawing them un til 10000 years later, but otherwise I write the rest of the script as I need them (when my art is catching up to that point in the story) :]

I keep every single script in one giant file in Google Docs. But I do plan to make a new one for every season, that's why this one is called "JumpHero SEASON 1 Script"

I know the arc of each book (there will be five books) and I have a word document with scenes I want to include in the story that can be "plugged" in when I get there. The actual writing of each episode starts as an outline, and I work toward the conclusion of the book. Every scene moves toward that end.

I have two files for each page. Work Panel which is the file of the for whatever program with seperated layers to make corrections and changes then I have a Pic Panel which is just a flattened JPEG of the Work Panel.

Yuop with a bunch of out-of-date backups on my Gdrives. The main script was in Word, but I've recently started migrating to working in Gdocs for script stuff bc it's hella convenient and you know, free.

Friendly reminder that if a document is stored on Google servers it does not belong to you. There are a lot of horror stories of people getting banned by Google for no reason. Have at least one back up locally!

Yeah, I do have a script for my comic. I wrote every single chapter and saved it in my personal OneDrive folder. I have at least 3 backups on different hard-drives and computers to keep everything safe and secure.

The reason why I already have all my story written down is because I'm not really good at making up stuff on the go. I usually prefer having an idea of what exactly happens so that I can change and add as many things as I want. Knowing everything has its own advantages, at least for me, because this way I can also do some foreshadowing and hint at things that weren't in the original script.

Kind of. When I paint I have a process that I call "big medium small". Broad strokes, then medium detail, then fine detail where it's most needed. I carry that process to my writing too. I have three main documents: Wide beats -- this is the entire arc of all five seasons of Heaven Hunters. I try to keep things pretty broad here, no scene specifics unless I have something clearly in mind. Since things are loose it's easy to move events around and refine things. Creating setups and payoffs is a cinch when everything is so zoomed out. When I start writing a new season I create a medium beats document for it, where I lay out major and minor events, and make sure the season flows well and everything makes sense. All the events need to connect and have a purpose in the story. After that I start on the script, where I think of each panel like a beat. Then sometimes my characters do unexpected things and break out of the medium beat order, so I have to reorganize!
But yeah, short answer is that there's a document where you can zoom out and look at the whole five season arc of Heaven Hunters. Or at least what it looks like right now!

I've been working on a 'draw as you go' longform comic (Basically working panel-to-panel instead of entire pages, but the term 'a page' gets muddled in digital art forms) but I've also written the script for the opening scene, the script for the climax, as well as the outline for the whole story. I'm taking it slow because in this style of comic I'm extremely particular about every word choice, since it focuses on building a lot on already established characters.

I won't start another scene until I'm confident I want to canonize the script, y'know?
