Yes, I do like my comic, but given the available posted chapters right now and my observation on the comic's update frequency, as a new reader I would not recommend it to other people just yet. I'll follow it myself, probably post it in the 'what webcomics are you currently reading' thread, but I won't mention it to someone looking for actual recommendations until probably after the first arc is finished :]

Since I'm the writer and the artist of my story, I should like it but, now that you make me think about it, I don't.

I mean, I'm making a slice-of-life story but I'm the first person who avoids that genre.
I'm telling about graffiti but If I were an external reader I'd say "Boring, I know more than the author. And the protagonist is cringy".
My story has no real romance and is something I often search for (especially m/m). As a reader, I'm not easy to please!

Still, even if my story is not what I would like to read myself, it's something that I wanted to tell. Something that I wanted to show. And I'll be happy whenever somebody will tag along with me in this journey

Oh certainly, and it has gotten better thanks to the critic I took advice from. I would give them a number from which page to read or head straight to the first chapter where the main protagonist's story begins if they are not interested in exposition and lore in the prologue, unlike me who likes to read them.

Well, I'm not biased because it is my comic, when I read the first 4 chapters I was like
"This could be just one or two chapters", "This feels so slow"
Chapter 5 I'm like "Oh great, more characters and these ones are crazy fun "
Chapter 6 captivated me with the cover change and the first time that I see the animated gift
Each chapter is more and more interesting to read, because I can see the improvement in the art style, and that's so...
But I have to admit that sometimes when I revisit some chapters I check some specific scenes depending on how I feel sometimes. For example, when I want to see something funny I look for Kippi scenes, when I want to read something related to creatures I focus more on Blou scenes, when I want to analyze the mystery, the drama, or even when I want to check for that BL side, I focus more on Feith's plot. It has a little bit of everything and that's something that I appreciate reading because when I read stories focused on one or two characters, I just get bored because I'm only waiting for what's coming next, and is rare to find some value on revisiting the webcomic. Here, I may ignore something at the moment but later that can be my interest.

And as a creator, I have to revisit my own comic, so I have to say, it doesn't feel like homework anymore

If I didn't. I wouldn't be working on it every single day. I used to do one previously that wasn't too happy about but now, with "Lyza's Sandstorm", I'm very happy on how things are going and Lyza is a very cool character to write more stories about her.

If I didn't genuinely think my comic was entertaining, I think I would by this point have thought, "Wait. Why am I making this!?"

I personally have always thought Errant is a fun read, and my deep fear was that other people wouldn't. After all, isn't promotion really just recommending your comic to people?

I like my own comic, and I think I would still read it if I wasn't an author. Even more so, because as an author I know what I could've done better in the beginning and I know that my art got much better later on, but as a reader I'm not that judgy
If I have doubts about my serie, usually all it takes to get my motivation back is to just re-read it from the beginning. I still find it entertaining, even though I've already read it so many times. I guess reading it for the first time without knowing what happens next would be even more fun.

At first I had my doubts: Is it interesting? Will others read it? Would others like it? Maybe there are things to improve, but as the story is going, I like it much more than before and I don't regret having published it. Well, I love it a lot!

I think I'd like it if I could get past how terrible it feels looking at my old artwork + getting through the beginning where we were making our absolute noob mistakes with pacing and paneling. Historical romance and the "start-up company" + personal drama theme appeals to me, so yeah, up my alley and I'd like it.

Though... not sure if I would like my art style if it belonged to someone else? I probably wouldn't mind it? I really can't be objective about that. I love our characters and story a lot though!

So overall? Yeah, but I'd mention that the beginning is super rough and things improve slowly XD.

The pacing in ch1-8 is a little slow which I'm actively working on fixing but golly it really does put a damper on your enthusiasm about the story when you have to take half of it and put it on the cuttingroom floor.

Yes! I love Undertale comics and I'm always looking for good ones. I certainly hope mine can be classified this way. I often find myself flipping backwards through it for my good panels, where all the best story points and funny bits roar to life. I love my current chapter especially. My first page still makes me cringe though! I know I was working on it until midnight, but sheesh!

Eh, hard to say. I originally created my first comic "Cross" a year ago and wasn't ever happy with it. I felt I made a lot of compromises and it definitely showed in it's quality. However, after some thought, I decided to restart my story with a different philosophy and it currently is doing wayyy better than my original comic!

We grow as creators and sometimes our work doesn't reflect that!

Yes because it has my sense of sense of humor and there's so much stuff to pick out from the dialogue. Whenever I re-read my comic, I like to expand on little stuff in the background just to be like "SEE! I PLANNED THAT ALLLLLLLLLL ALONG!".

So new reader me would be like "Wow this guy planned everything all along!".

JUDAS SIGHED is definitely the kind of comic I would read.
Clarissa Ruins Everything (CSA trigger warning, the whole thing) was a comic that I'd fallen head over heels for, and comics that were in the same vein - In Clothes Called Fat (ED trigger warning, again, the whole thing) and Not Simple (Where do I start ?) stand out - were the ones that made me really want to make things. Basically, comics about trauma and tragedy are my favorites.

But execution-wise, I wish that I'd known I would stick with the comic for so long before starting it. It would have made the first (insert an embarassing number of pages here) pages way, way stronger. I'll remaster them when I get ready to go to print, but I guess a teenager isn't the person I would expect to make a Polished Well-Exceuted Comic.
It's kind of funny, but I only really notice how much I like my style when I see styles that are close but not the same. I'm glad I have a decent relationship with my art.

Okay this actually a tougher question to answer than I thought. I'd have to say probably? My comic was the amalgamation of stuff I liked and enjoyed and it was originally intended for my eyes only so like if I would probably enjoy it if I was a reader. Maybe a little bit more if I was still a teen or a kid XD

Yeah I think I’d click on my own work. It doesn’t look like anything else and the genres are what I’m into.

As far as when I’m actually working on them I tend to hate my work until a project is completed and then I’ll read a year+ later and realize it was pretty good. I think I need a lot of time to separate myself from it.

Reading the title of this thread, I thought “heck yeah I do,” but when I saw it asked to imagine if I was a new reader, uhh idk.

I’m a bit picky sometimes with comics, especially gaming comics. Already nowadays if I see something in the gaming genre I already start off slightly disinterested in it. I just got tired of it over the years, especially since I wanted to consume original content and the genre appeared to be mainly just fan comics. My comic, JumpHero, is somewhat my way of pushing against that, I guess? But I don’t think I can shake off the fact that the prologue very much emphasizes the gaming parody stuff, so much so that if I was a reader I’d probably be wary if the comic was actually cringey. Though, it’s probably just a necessary evil. Hopefully with my growing stats and reputation — and the fact that the end of the prologue warns that this is no ordinary gaming comic — will encourage those kinds of readers to go past the cringe hurdle.

And now that I think about it, reader me would probably be head over heels for the nonhuman cast, so yeah maybe I would like it.
