Absolutely, yes! There are a few exceptions just as in real life where some people dress up for their job rather than their personality. Then there are those who dress in a way that is not to their preferences but the preferences of those they care about, or have been traumatized by, even after they are long gone.

For example, Scott's ponytail and gloves are due to his dead wife as she liked his hair long and thought he looked good with gloves. Though the suit is required by his job despite the fact that he would gladly dress like a bum.

Meanwhile, Elysif dresses however she wants to despite the societal, cultural, and gender judgements of the time.

Then Sela with a Greek Chiton and not a care in the world considering it is a god. Plain and uncaring but normal for the position.

My characters’ personality exactly doesn’t “fit” their aesthetic, but that is by design. The most extreme example is Alex and Nives:

Alex and Nives are supposed to give off “bad vibes”. They are built to look like an evil lord with a mysterious masked right hand man/woman lieutenant. I won’t go too much into Alex’s personality because that would constitute some spoilers, but he’s actually a massive dork, while Nives(the one with the mask) is probably among the nicest people in the main cast. She just dresses like that due to her job, and some personal preferences. She tries to be nice and helpful to Corrine despite even sometimes going against her orders. She is also canonically a fujoshi.

Oh boy this is gonna be a long one because not only am I gonna be talking about their clothes but colors and (in regards to animal characters) their fur

Scamp and Delilah share the same blue fur color because I liked the color blue. But usually blue, especially the tone I chose, doesn't usually scream bad ass main character. That's why his eyes are red, getting across to the audience that while he maybe be cute and friendly, he's someone you shouldn't take lightly. Compare that to Delilah who's eyes are purple, emphasizing she's a lot softer when compared to her younger brother.

In regards to their clothing, I feel like I subconsciously took cues from Max and Ruby (if you remember that show) because of the similarities between the two pairs. You got an elder sister who's tries to act as a parent and mentor to a troublesome younger brother, and failing to do so due to a lack of maturity. The parallels were a lot clearer earlier on with her original outfit but I had to change that to he current dress to avoid people mistaking her as Scamp's mother. But with Scamp, its still there with all thats missing being overalls. As for her glasses, originally she was going to start the series without them, not getting a pair until chapter 5. But towards the end of storyboarding chapter 1, I drew her with a pair on one of the thumbnailed pages which was this one:

In general, I felt like glasses fitted her personality so I decided to have her wear them from the start! I probably wouldn't have been able to introduce them in chapter 5 anyway given the final draft ended up being completely different from my initial plans for it.

Not much to say with Ken regarding his fur. He's a mini schnauzer, they usually have grey fur and the only reason Scamp and Delilah are candy colored is because their Lunites. But his outfit I think really helps get across that this guy is a hard working man who wants nothing more than to provide for his kids!

Moving onto Sarah, I think her school outfit helps emphasize her overall warm color pallete. It helps get across that she's a energetic and kind girl. Her soccer uniform, while contrasting heavily with her warm colors, puts more of an emphasis on her energetic and tomboy side.

Her older sister Vicky shares the same warm color pallete but amped up to the extreme with much more vibrant brown sugar fur tone, wild unkept hair, a red plad shirt and tattered up jeans. Her outfit funny enough is a recent addition because initally, she was going to wear a jean jacket shirt but just didnt work for her so I went with the plad shirt with rolled up sleeves so that more of her muscles would be showing

what is a Lunite? I think there are some dogs with blue under-toned fur, so blue fur could have been stylization for all I know lol

They are (or I guess were) a race of wolves with super powers, signified by blue fur and red eyes! Initially, the blue fur wasn't connected with it was supposed to be a type of stylization like you said, but as I developed the story more, I decided to tie the two together.

As for why Delilah doesn't have red eyes, well that's a story for another day. And by that I mean when it gets brought up in the story because that's entering spoiler territory and I have not written up to that point yet

I work pretty hard to get my characters outfits to fit visibly with their personalities. I think I'm pretty good at it, but it's a hard skill to develop.

I kind of formed Chili and Texas's personalities around their appearances and their appearances around their visuals the whole time I was designing them. I did originally think Texas would be chiller than she is because of her blue hair, but her dyed hair and fashion statement all reflect her quirkiness. She's very eccentric and has a very strong sense of who she is. She doesn't really let other people's opinions bother her. (hence why she also has tattoos and quirky makeup.) I think she's also pretty hippie/hipster coded aesthetically, which I do think suits her. Some of her clothes fit a little oddly because they're thrifted even though she can afford new clothes. She's vegetarian (or at least trying hard to be) and loves animals and yoga.

Chili on the other hand, is designed to look kind of like a shady used car salesman, while also being very extra. both things fit his character, as he's often trying to persuade Texas into different things, and he's just very loud personality-wise. (he's a middle kid lol.)
