Does January stop people from getting more activity on comics?

I'm curious cause even the most noteable artists on here, youtube, deviantart and other sites seem to get this huge drop in January for viewership.

Is there any reason to that like maybe Seasonal Depression or people going back to college with exam cramming, or is January sort of just a "Bleh" month?

Most likely. I know for myself I’m still experiencing holiday fatigue, I just finished spending all of my time off with family and other high emotional matanence events. Now I’m back at work and it’s a lot of high physical and mental fatigue cause of all the catchup we have to do. I’m already up for another vacation XD so I assume a lot of people feel this way during January

I wonder if its the "New year new me" mentality adding to it where people are making a short lived attempt at spending less time on their computers/phones?

I know I'm in the "fatigue" category, and I feel probably a lot of others are as well. The holidays can be draining as you exert extra energy- I know January is my "crash" month; I just wanna stay in bed most days and get sleep.

I'm over 3/4s done with the chapter for this month and I just feel like I can't go any further. January is definitely a fatigue month but I'm hit much harder in February because there isn't a single good thing about it.

idk. i feel like december a lot of artists pause for the holidays or have guest pages. idk why it would be slow for January.

another one for the fatigue category. the second half of 2018 was kinda garbage for me anyways and with winter really hitting in December and January its hard to be motivated through all the cold weather.

I've been more productive (kinda) working on pages and things related to my comics but simply haven't been posting anything

Hmm I've noticed this too, especially how fewer people seem to be updating in January. Usually I update on Tuesdays, which is a huge amount of traffic - most of the comics in my library seem to update on Tuesdays, but yesterday I only saw that 2 other people had posted (excluding myself)

Online, yes, january is always a slump month for online traffic. It's really tough on youtubers, too.

Sure seems like it. I've updated one of my series twice this month and have gotten very little views. More so than usual.

I've never really noticed a slump in January for my comic. Although granted, my comics never set the world on fire anyways and Edible Green tea's anniversary is in January, so it might spike a bit actually. Never looked into it that much, though.

I'm on hiatus this month, but it's because I have all the uni exams on it

I'm hyped and energetic, luckily! I just moved places, but only skipped drawing for the one bussiest day. I am drawing as much as I can so I can update according to my schedule and build a buffer, too.
I may have gotten a bit less pageviews so far, but not sure if significantly and Webtoon put my webtoon in one of the promotion categories (yaaaay!) a couple of days ago, therefore right now I have the biggest traffic ever, so I am not complaining! And that totally helps my motivation, too!

Haven't really noticed a drop if you look at the engagement over multiple months, but there's a drop compared to December.
I think December just is a high activity month and it kinda distorts your perception going into January.

Personally January is shaping up to be better than November but not as good as December.
I wonder if that's the case for most people, CPS tends to be higher around December in general so that might be why the drop is so noticeable?

I’ve noticed a small drop in the amount of subs gained over on Webtoon this month, but Tapas seems normal tbh
