Not everyone who responds to a comment you make is disagreeing or arguing. I don't mince words in my writing, and I suppose that has me coming across as argumentative, but that's not my intent.
At any rate, writing queer characters as normal people shouldn't affect anyone professionally. Because in stories where sexuality and/or romance aren't front and center, it won't be terribly relevant except as background information along with other details that, though they may give the character greater depth, might not be all that important.
