Hate it, it's annoying, but it's more annoying that I keep getting this joke thrown at me YEARS AFTER the series ended. I mean sure, I get it when it's still active I guess, but it's over now, stop it, find some new material.

Though I may be more tolerant to the reference than other people with Lupus that hear it, because I'm also used to getting TV reference jokes because I also get the "So are you CHINESE or JAPANESE?" joke and clip from King of the Hill when I tell people I'm Lao. Still. To this DAY. That show is old as shit, WHY do you think I have NEVER heard that one before, and how is this show still relevant???

I think I may or may not have ruined some random person's day with the Lupus joke though. Someone texted me, I have no idea who it was probably wrong number, but the message was "So was it Lupus LOL" so I responded with "Yes it was actually." Never got a message back.

Whats with all the "Stop being in agony" advise. I'm appalled its being spread around as often as it is. It just doesn't make any sense. "ya I'm purposefully making my self miserable and spending a fortune on medication". It just seems like these people are trying to put themselves on some higher level than you . Like the reason they are not in pain(mental or physical) is because they "lived a more wholesome life than you". Screw off with that, its disgusting.

Some of y'all reminded me of something. My mom was telling my sister how fat she is and basically yelling at her about it and when my sister said "stop it, you're making me insecure." my mom's only response was "I'm not making you feel insecure I'm just saying." My blood still boils whenever I think about that, about the times my mom insulted my sister intentionally or not, and I can't do anything about it.

Comes with being an asian, sadly. Having parents that don't properly understand mental illness, body image, etc.

Didn't you know? You're supposed to have crippling insecurities and a strong desire to change yourself before you even become a teen. Self-love isn't real! It's just a theory!

Seriously though, why couldn't that be an applicable answer?¿? I know the question didn't have any bad intent behind it since it was aimed at kids but not accepting that would surely be problematic for some of them at least, like "I told my teacher that I liked myself, but she said that was wrong.."

I just remembered another one. While in high school, one day we had this weird meeting with a therapist. She talked with all of us in our classroom and when she got to me, she noticed I'm quiet. I'm just shy as heck and have a resting b*tch face, but she told me that I should stop looking at people like I'm better than them?????? She also gave me the classic "you should talk more". Like, IM TRYING?????? But thanks you solved my lifelong problems with shyness.

I just remember that one 'advisor' in middle school who told me to leave general school immediately, as I would be losing my time in high school where the level would be way too high for me. I ended up with two master's degrees and a PhD.

In my first year of university, I heard even worse. I met a girl whose 'advisor' in middle school told her parents her best hope was a good marriage.
I really don't know what these people are for. Not giving good advice, for sure.

I've been given a lot of bad unasked for advice in my life. I'm going to mention some advice that I believe can be proven to be dumb/crazy by my work.

Before I started drawing the pages of my web comic and was thinking about buying a Wacom tablet, I was told to not buy one because only people that go to school can make good art work with them. I've never forgotten the bad advice and use it as motivation to show publicly through my work that the advice is not good.
