Would you consider reviewing a published comic? :3 My webcomic on Tapastic isn't ready for reviews, but I feel like my published one is, if you feel it fits to your guidelines mentioned in your initial post. Since you're a critic, you would receive a free copy of my comic through my publisher though it is only the Prologue issue so it's about 16 pages, but 20 pages in total including the fan art section and my thank you page. I don't know if this counts towards your minimum of 20 pages, and if it doesn't, then I sincerely apologize for taking up your time <3

I'm certainly game. And I am not a critic yet, I just published my first official review, but I think I am going to get the hang of it pretty quickly. I have been doing this for people for months, so going public with it is actually kinda cool.

Oops! Sorry, I didn't mean to misuse the term :') My publisher, Insane Comics, is pretty lenient so as long as you provide examples of reviews you've done, or your web page, blog, etc...they would give you a code for you to download your own copy. If it's okay, I'll provide a link to my comic's website for you to browse through, for you to get a feel of it before you decide :') . It doesn't have any sexual themes/nudity and it's fantasy, with wolves as the main characters and a healthy balance of myth, magic, gods, romance, and adventure :3

If you feel comfortable reviewing it, you can contact the founder of Insane Comics, James Munch, by messaging him on Facebook, or sending him an e-mail at: comics@insanecomics.com

If you have any questions/concerns, I'd be more than happy to elaborate :3 Thank you very much for your consideration Eagle!! :'D

Awesome! I'll be looking forward to it smiley

@Jrej yay, I'm glad you like it! I will begin uploading it to tapastic today too ^^

So cool, Eagle! Just read your first review! I really enjoyed it and I think it is pretty on point in many ways. I only wished the review would be broken up by more images taken from the comic. It would break it up nicely, look great and helps the reader of your review to figure out if this comic is for them or not. But maybe that's just personal preference.

Looking forward to read more of them!

I may just do exactly that. I just don't want to slow down the page load too much. Not everyone is on a fast connection, including myself. I do like the picture I chose, but there were several others that I think could be included that would show off the art without giving story away.
In the end, it's just luck of the draw that the first review turned out so positive. I found things that bugged me about the comic, but none of them were enough to turn me away from it. The upcoming reviews will not be so rosy.

Out of curiosity, was there anything else that bugged you about my comic that was not included in the review? I'm always up for more constructive criticism! wink

Nope, @ErithEl ...I'm not going to hold anything back on these. I'm going to call them like I see them, as I would like someone to do for me.

For the most part, I feel like the better you get at something creative, the more honest you are with yourself about your own output. I don't think I am going to be hitting too far from where most people see themselves, but in some cases, I might be able to get past egos or blindspots so they can improve.

My own comic has several weaknesses, such as the stiffness of the figures, the looseness of the art, and the simple fact that I am telling a very dense story, so there are lots of captions. If someone points out other problem areas, I am usually eager to fix what I can, and do better in the future with what I can not. The only time I am not is if it's something that is a matter of my personal style, such as the wordiness. The bit about not liking comics with too many words is a recent development, and one that I do not care for, since it robs comics of part of their story telling effectiveness, so I am not likely to change that.

I am also going to make sure that I place any disclaimers that need to be done in the right places, so that if something is affecting me due to my stance on something, such as extreme decompression in story telling (decompression was a good thing, it gave us richer stories, extreme decompression is a bad thing, it gives us more art at the cost of story), I will label it as such.

Also, with a long history of doing critique, I tend to use a lot of literary critique terms, so if anyone has questions either about a term, or the way I am using it, be sure to ask.

(The next one will be out tomorrow, I have had a very busy week)

Interesting results if you look up "funny grocery signs." wink

Back to srs bzns: looking forward to reading more of the reviews!

Ok, the second review is done, 900 words. I will be starting on the third one as soon as I knock a page of artwork out. I am a busy bird.
I will also post here after I post the review on my site. Right now it is being reviewed by the reviewee.

Here's another review posted17. Hope you guys are enjoying these!

(And another one's coming in the next few days)

Hi there @eagle1 ! I don't know if you're still doing these reviews, but I've read a few through and they seem really direct and helpful! I'd be really interested if you had time to review the comic I'm working on at the moment? You can read it here1. I think it's improving as it goes, so the most recent 20 pages are probably the best. Thanks so much!
