Email from Tapas a scam? What is this?

Is this email from "Tapas" real or a scam? Been debating and yelling with my friends for an hour about it.
The email in question: tapasmoderators@tapasent.com
It does link to actual Tapas.io content guidelines, which I didn't click but hovered over to see the linked site addresses.

They're saying my book violates AI content guidelines. My book is not AI in any way. Thanks.

I believe that email from Tapas should be "xxx@tapas.io"

That's what we think as well, but another friend said that tapas has paid them through this email before...

tapasent.com domain is real - I get emails from this one whenever I get paid or emails from staff.

If you're worried about it though, please go the Discord and open a help ticket to get it resolved. If they think your cover or writing is AI, it's likely someone reported it or something triggered it in their system.

That and tapasent are domains both used by Tapas. I think OP needs to contact the help email or discord ticket to resolve AI allegations.

Ah ok. Thank you. I'm just going to delete my book, because f Tapas for thinking any part of it is AI.

As far as I know, if your work is a novel, not only is the novel itself not allowed to use AI, its cover and thumbnails also cannot use AI-generated images, so I suggest you change it.

It's already been pointed out, but someone probably reported your book for its cover or the banner / thumbnails. I tried finding your novel, but looks like you already deleted it.

For future reference, in case you ever decided to share your stories here again, be sure to credit your cover artist (even if YOU drew it yourself) in the description of your books. Knowing who the artist is means people can go check out their portfolios, and that'll go a long way in clearing up whether the cover is AI or not.

If you used Canva to make your cover, I've been told that Canva itself has AI assets now. So you may have inadvertently used some AI without even realizing it.

Or, if you commissioned someone to draw the cover for you... that doesn't mean your cover wasn't AI. There are plenty of AI users out there more than happy to scam people and pretend they're actually drawing you custom artwork when in fact they're just feeding your request into the machine.

I just had a thought, if an artwork is accused of being AI, it's easier to disprove if you can show the original with it's proper layers intact or show a video of the drawing process. But how does one disprove AI use on written text since it can just be copied and pasted?

You can't 100% disprove the use of AI in writing unfortunately, all the tools that claim to "know" if AI was used is barely better than chance at guessing correct.

The best I can advice is AI text has a certain feel to it. It feels empty because the AI doesn't "know" what it's saying, and can often be repetitive, feels generic because it's absorbed so much (including Reddit posts for some), make non-sensical or tonally inappropriate metaphors and on a large scale like a novella or novel it won't have object permanence nor structure, but it will usually have good grammar and syntax.

Basically for writing to be obviously not AI you either need to be exceedingly good with a specific voice and style that is consistent and have a clear vision of where you're going with this story, or really really amateur with grammar mistakes and mispellings.

Damn that's unfortunate. It is possible for people's writing to be repetitive or generic and non-sensical phrasing could also be because of mistranslation.
