I am interested in transforming my story, Bard and the Swordswoman, into a comic and didn't even think of looking here until I saw some other topics. As the title says, I am an aspiring writer looking for an artist who has the gift of turning words into visual stories through panels.
As far as the story goes, it's meant to seem lighthearted and comical, but has darkness lurking. Lots of fun facial expressions and perhaps some slapstick type of comedy, but it will also have extremely tense/serious moments and situations. From flirting to action, as an artist, you'd need to be comfortable drawing it all. If I could give examples of series that exist that might have the same feeling I am going for, I'd say The Slayers (anime) and Elfquest (American comic). If you already know and love these works you might be a good fit!
You would absolutely need to be 18+ as there will be more mature moments later in the story and preferably experience with laying out pages. I already work with a cover artist/illustrator and I would prefer following her style of art, which I have included below (it's a work in progress). I am sure when Dy, my artist, is finished it will look something like her previous work she did for another story of mine (not as dark).
More Details Based on Comment Questions
Genre: Swords and sorcery/Dnd
Paid: Yes, it is paid work to be discussed with the person who's work best fits.
Posting: Willing to work out with the artist, but at least a comic monthly
Deadline: Again, willing to work with the artist's schedule as far as posting start date. We all have lives, I understand that; I have a full-time job and various side gigs. I'm also still writing the story so this can be a project done in between projects or however you'd like to set it up.
Sample Writing: I have hyperlinked to my story, but here it is again: Bard and the Swordswoman
Sample Art: Just to give an idea of style direction I'm thinking, if I could have my dream artist working on this project, it'd be Josh Middleton as I loved his work Sky Between Branches.
I'd love to see examples of your previous comic work. Feel free to email me at dear.h.b.daye@gmail.com or comment here with questions about the project.
