An excerpt from an update coming to chapter 49, I will post here when all updates are live:
“I don’t want you involved in this, Ji-a,” Hyeon-U said, his words low but sharp. “I’ve told you everything you need to know. Just... stay out of it.”
“Stay out of what?!” Ji-a snapped, not backing down. His mind was racing. What was going on with Hyeon-U? He’d never seen him so distant, so closed off. Not even after everything they’d been through—the dangers, the close calls, the fights. They were supposed to be partners.
"You’re not telling me what’s really going on," Ji-a continued, voice trembling with a mix of anger and hurt. "I can’t just stand here and watch you push me away like this. I may not be obvious about it or show it much but I care about you, Hyeon-U. If you think I’m going to let you walk off into whatever this is by yourself, you’re wrong."
Hyeon-U’s jaw clenched, and for a moment, Ji-a saw a flicker of something—something deeper, darker—in his partner’s eyes. It was like a storm behind the mask of indifference, something he wasn’t ready to let Ji-a see.
